Out with the old, in with the new.

Initial thoughts before we've completed the tune:

The car runs and drives much smoother with the EL headers. Idle quality is up and NVH is down across the board. At speed, it basically sounds like a combination of a generic Honda + rotary (in a weird way). I'll admit, it's lost some of the sound character of the UEL headers. My setup also has a tiny bit of rasp around 4,250 rpm. We're still tuning it so I haven't been able to take any vdynos but I suspect it picked up some power and area under the curve.

Did you notice any increase in NVH from just the STi engine mounts?
From just the STI engine mounts there were no NVH at all. It was a very good feeling while accelerating.

When I added the gearbox mount after around a month or so then i noticed a bit of vibration in the steering wheel at idle only. Nothing to spoil the fun but just an observation.
Mind that I don't have any other uprated bushing on the car yet.

There is a very solid feeling after you install all the mounts and they do settle down after some driving. Lets say around 2-3k kms.

For a daily setup you can't go wrong with these mounts. Well worth the purchase.

Nice! Thanks for the comments. I will receive mine in 2 weeks

What about the o2 sensor? I guess you do have the error light until you tune it. Is there any way to get rid of it until the tune comes? For me it will take a while...

He already has a tune from running UEL. Goingnowherefast mentioned retuning to optimize new setup.
If you run a catless without a tune you will likely get the Po420 code for running no cat. Not much you can do until it's tuned. It will return if/when cleared.

If you aren't planning to tune for a while consider holding off on install until you are ready.

RToyo86 hit the nail on the head. I actually reflashed to the JDL 4-2-1 tune after this, so no CEL. If you don't have any tune, you will get a P0420 CEL. It won't affect performance, but it is annoying.

Is there any special reason for holding off on install? I don´t think it will cause any inconvenience, or? I´m "waiting" to find a 2nd hand oft. A new one from the US to Europe takes long and it´s quite expensive...

On the other hand I read that Po420 disables cruise control. I wonder if clearing the error by OBDII allows to use it again

Yes, cruise control is mostly only thing lost after P0240 popping up. One of reasons (apart from better performance) why people install aftermarket ecu tune (with cat readiness checks disabled) when installing catless exhaust bits.

When I get my tune done I will ask Zach to add a stock car that matches weather conditions and see if he has a full bolt on ace350 he can use for comparison. Be sure to post them up!

Do you know if cruise control comes back if I clear the error with OBDII?

So today was the day. Sadly the old girl's motor is seasoned and is down a bit on power. CSG uses a hub dyno similar to mustang number. I forgot to grab a screen shot that I could see but here where the final numbers:

170WHP Peak
152WTQ Peak

Gained 12-15WHP vs stock car through the entire rev range and peak up to almost 25WHP vs stock. TQ dip is 95% gone with E50 and E20(tuned like 91) its greatly reduced and shifted further in the rev band.

Talking with Zach he was happy with car considering the following:
-Car at the top end was losing about a 1LB of vacuum (could have been caused by Dyno Airflow vs real world)
-Car has stock FP with secondary CAT
-Engine has 83K miles on it
-DI have never been serviced. (he mentioned this could add back 5-10WHP)
-Fairly hot temps (mid 80s to low 90s when we were done)

So all in all compared to the e-tune before power is better but its the smoothness that is much improved. Throttle response also feels better. So with Ace or JDL 4-2-1 dyno tune seems worth it right off the bat if available.

On a Side Note on a dyno jet numbers would between
185-190WHP
162WTQ

Thank you so much for sharing!

Mine is coming soon. I am planning to buy an OFT, as there are not reputed tuners in my area.

The OFT with the provided stage 2 tune should be fine right?
I will run JDL 4-2-1 with stock FP and stock catback. Soon I´ll change to an AM resonated catback

I would definitely go with an Remote E-Tune with CSG or Delicious Tuning w/ ECUTek if you don’t have a tuner in your area. This way you are still getting a proper, tailored tune for your vehicle, vs an off the shelf tune that isn’t 100% optimized for the header or your particular vehicle.
