Stuff I do keep on the car: Tire pressure gauge T bar tire iron Jumper cables Mag lite d cell flashlight CD sleeve for the CD player Sunglasses Windshield shade Masks although no longer required Hand sanitizer Towel for wiping off sweat after exercise Road atlas for US and southern Canada Emergence road hazard lights and an emergency window breaker Subaru sent to me hope I never need to use that window breaker! I guess that’s it. I used to carry a small tool kit but stopped after I realized I wouldn’t know what to do with them |

i started carrying tools when i was more responsible for the rest of the families aging fleet, so i would spontaneously run by pick-n-pull yards for replacement parts when i had time. we've all moved out, and generally upgraded vehicles to models new enough that haven't really dropped into pick-n-pull yards yet, so i need it a lot less than i used to.

Sunglasses, comb, air pump, pressure gauge, light, CD's, phone charger, zip ties (they're good for lots of things in a pinch), panel tools (haven't figured out where else to store them), probably more that I'm forgetting about.

Always in my car, in no particular order of importance:
Leatherman Raptor Shears (soon to be mounted in the door pocket so I can find them upside down) Tire gauge Bottled water Caffeine mints Invisible glass Blue paper shop towels Reading glasses OBDII bluetooth adapter Travel trash can (uses standard plastic grocery bags) Insulated cooler bag (I never know when I'll need to buy boudin.) Canvas pencil case (for receipts) Northern Tool back scratcher Lip balm Capsaicin nose spray Hand sanitizer Alka Seltzer Ryobi inflator Ryobi automotive battery charger Kobalt tool kit Harbor Freight breaker bar Spark plug socket (fits the keys to my spline drive lugs) Trunk cargo net Jumper cables My next addition will likely be an Element fire extinguisher. I keep first aid supplies in my computer bag. If you can't tell, I drive a lot, and I'm fucking serious about it. |
