Has anyone here played Watchdogs: Legion? I'm tempted to buy the game, but it's been receiving polarizing reviews from both Reddit and YouTube. I'm not so sure about its overall quality.

Correction: Rage mode is an auto overclock, good for ~2%. The RYZEN 5000+Radeon benefit comes from smart access memory, which basically gives the processor access to the GPU memory. Should help in CPU intensive games, say ~3-7%.

Whether this sticks will depend on if AMD can deliver on the drivers this time. Nvidia typically runs higher frames on similar hardware, mostly cause their drivers are really well optimized, and they have really good driver-level implementation of post-processing (AA, AF, etc.). It’s great to see AMD in the competitive realm again, but I’m holding off to see where both camps are at in ~March. I’d love to slap a Ryzen 5000 and a 6800XT in my machine, it seems like the final upgrade I can make before we need to yield to new standards like DDR5 and the upcoming 12V-only power supplies.

That average FPS was a bit higher than that from everything I saw, but yes I do agree. And you can't really go off of anything that's being said as there has been no "testing" by reviewers anyways, so I'm going to wait for that to really start putting stake into anything said or claimed by either side (AMD/Nvidia). I'm still waiting for JayzTwoCents, Bitwit, Paul, Linus, and GamersNexus to start pumping out the reviews

My main thing is drivers and stability. AMD has always failed in that realm and that's why Nvidia has always held the crown for GPU. And that definitely may continue. If AMD can't get their shit together, then the rage mode and smart access mean nothing if an Nvidia card can run better and smoother regardless.

I would absolutely love a 5000 series chip and 6800XT as well, but my 3700x and 2080ti are doing just fine for now, and it would take a windfall of cash to my bank account or winning a giveaway of some sort for me to make any changes anytime soon.

I've been busy so I haven't beaten it yet, but I 100% agree with Cptn Snooze.
Playing on Ironman on hard and haven't even switched from the character I chose at the start unless forced to.

If you are really itching to try it, pick it up through Uplay+ (or Uplay Connect) whatever they are calling it now) for $15 a month.

My plan is to have this beaten WD by time Valhalla drops next week.
Then finish that before I get charged with my second month of membership.

P.S. I am by no means rushing through WD either.
This games fast travel system and construction drones allows someone that is creative to bypass lot's of stuff.

As I said, I don't think it's bad, it just doesn't bring anything new to the gaming experience except for its shiny visuals. Part of Ubisoft's sale pitch was "play as anyone". While this maybe true I only used about 4 characters for my play through. I'm guessing it took me no more than 1/2 an hour to see all the game had to offer. While the underlying theme was quite realistic/scary (the privatization and military-ization of the police force, the loss of human rights) the game play was quite shallow. Having said that I liked the shallowness/easiness of the game.

I'm still jumping in for an hour or so a day to finish off some quests and explore but I'm finding Chernobylite much more interesting. The representation of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is stunning. The game's map was developed from 3D scans and recreations of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in Ukraine. Screenshots forthcoming.

My biggest dislike about the game is it is not open world. One picks a task for the day, leave the base and then load into the map you are going to explore. The maps are decent size but far from "open". Finish (or fail) that day's quest then load back to base. (Those are game days, not real days.)

Re Chernobylite.

Once in the map I am having a great time exploring and sneaking about. I think the art work is fantastic. Also, the game play is straight forward, I know what I'm doing.

But back in the base the u.i. become a bit clanky, there is a supernatural component to the game which I don't think adds anything of value and assigning missions to npcs is hit or miss. Also, the control wheel of the mouse is unassignable. I guess this part of being early access.

The enemy npc a.i. is quite stupid which I don't mind as it makes the game more enjoyable for me.

It greatly depends on what you are expecting from this game I guess it would be reasonable to watch some streams with the game on Youtube for example. I guess that after watching at least 20 minutes of the game you will find the answer to your question.

From just one website (I purchase from 3 websites but there's not a significant difference in price between them) the most expensive 6800XT is Aud$1069 where as the cheapest RTX 3080 is Aud$1299 and cheapest RTX 3070 is Aud$949.
