I like the Sapphire Blue Pearl. Hopefully they don't drop it after year 1 like Galaxy Blue Silica.

Yea yea, the manual Supra alternative is the real selling point but I’ll be damned if that yellow wasn’t fantastic marketing to a dummy like me.

The 400z had to have a yellow option because it's a throwback to the 200-series Z cars from the '70s, and that pale yellow was one of the basic colors back then. From what I've seen so far, Nissan has done a pretty good job of recreating the memory of the '70s yellow.

If anybody ever brought back Triumph as a sports car manufacturer, they would have to include yellow for those as well. It fits the personality of those cars.

The manufacturers have to be careful with certain colors on newer cars. Nissan's muted pale yellow wouldn't look right on the BRZ. It has to be more vibrant and pop, but then you risk it being gaudy. Some black stripes would help.

I don't think I have ever seen a Triumph of any year in the wild that was anything but green.

We've become such a boring society. But one piece of evidence for this are the wonderful, saturated, fun colors that used to be offered in sports cars. Check out the color palette for exterior and interior colors that were offered in 1968 for Jaguar, and compare it to the meager choices we have today.....

^It's about money. This car is built on a budget so there's one interior and a handful of basic colors. Jaguar always positioned themselves as an upscale brand. Or consider Porsche who offer more colors and contrasting options than I can count for the interior and a long list of optional paints that are several thousand dollar options. If I specced a Cayman interior/exterior to look how I want that would be like 1/3 the total price of a twin. If Toyubaru offered more cost free colors or interior options they'd have to increase the base price to cover that reduced efficiency. I think I'll like the WRB or light gray enough to be happy but I may have the interior reupholstered in a lighter color and different feeling material.

Next in popularity after green was yellow, but there were also blue, red and brown ones. My first car was a jasmine TR6. They went through multiple shades of yellow through the years that got progressively more vibrant.

Oh I am not disputing other colours. I just don't remember ever seeing any. Same as I think all the MGs I ever saw (or at least noticed) were red!

I completely appreciate that the twins are an economy sports car, and that it really is all about money and cost-savings.

Nonetheless, out of the mere 7 colors dictated by cost-savings, 2 are variations of 'grey'. 4 out of 7 are white, black, or a grey. Basically, asphalt. They could have chosen a green, yellow, or orange instead of one of the greys, but no, two greys are what sells.

Of course manufacturers build what people will buy. Have we really become so dull as a people that we want 4 out of 7 colors to match the road surface? Do people really want their cars to be camouflage and blend into the road? Apparently yes.

In the past (yes, I'm old, I remember those days because I lived through them) people embraced fun, expressive, saturated colors. Even in cheap cars. Yes, Jaguars were always expensive, but check out the color palette for the humble 1975 MGB, at the time equivalent to the BRZ today. We've become a more boring people, and have lost an element of mirthful fun (at least when it comes to cars)(and I completely agree with @Tcoat, at least Dodge still knows how to do colors).

We still have plenty of choice from Jaguar:

... or Porsche, or Lamborghini.

Ours were a yellow Midget and a puke MGB. I think the official color of the MGB was limeflower, which appeared green to some people and beige to others. It was a truly terrible option.
