the 2013 is a beta model haha. It's pretty much the AE85 and when they fix all the bugs and make slight improvements for next year, then the 2014 will be like the AE86 and be an instant classic.

no, the 2013 is the true 86. the 2014 might lose the badging and just be know as an frs with no nod to the history. this is the car as they intended it to be. the future models will have to be responses to the public. the neutral/oversteer setting of the suspension may have to be scaled back to be made safer and favor understeer like most cars on the road.

Instant classic? Yes. Do I look at it as an investment? No. 90% of us will irreversibly modify the cars or put too many miles on them to make them collector items in the future. Doesn't bug me one bit, though. I want to enjoy one now, not when I'm 25 years older!

I kinda hope the same thing, but you want it to be accessible to all enthusiasts. Lets not have it rare and hold value because it's cool, but rather let let everyone enjoy the ride. I mean that is the point of the car. Then again the larger the scene gets the more assholes giving the car a bad name. Its a fine line for sure.

O.o What? Almost every review loves the steering and suspension setup, for toyota marketing/engineering to change that, they would have to be idiotic.

FIrst I was just making a joke, and this car prob will become a classic, but I would think a car is a classic because of its performance, aesthetics, uniqueness, and overall awesomeness, not for what it's supposed to 'represent'. IF they can improve on every aspect of the car, and not include the HPFP, tailight condesation, vibration, rattling, window auto-scroll issues, etc, why can't the second year model be a classic? if they had botched the look or the way the car actually drives, would you still be calling this car a future classic just because it represents the 86?

Great car, but I can't see it becoming a classic in the way a 67 Mustang or 69 Camaro is. Not holding my breath (too busy driving mine), but it'll be nice if it happens.

I feel that this car is pretty significant to the sports car world because of how the segment was diluting due to the lack of cars which brought passion and energy to the table.

This car is important because owning a sports car this good is more attainable for the average buyer / enthusiast, and plus the essence about the car is much more than outright speed and power... It's a sports car that makes the driver feel good about traveling from place to place... And traveling more efficiently than what performance cars were previously known for.

It may take more time to prove that it's worthy of being called a classic... But there's little doubt in my mind that this car has given new life and foundation to the world of sports cars.

True, it does depend where, though. Most private places will only offer wholesale price, which is usually pretty damn low. Not trying to make a stab at you (just saying in general) you gotta look around for the best deal and know what you're talking about. I was able to get full value for trade in on it for an frs. Also, a mitsubishi dealer (when i was looking at evos) offered me a higher amount than most other places.

Yes, the F-RS/BRZ will retain its value quite well in the immediate future but I wouldn't consider it a "classic" as I do the NSX, MKIV Supra and S2000. After 10 years those cars can command 70-100% of their original price. I just don't see that happening with the F-RS/BRZ.

I do think this car is an "instant classic" just because it's such a great car and hopefully it's success will encourage other manufacturers to create similar cars. Having said that I don't think it will be collectable and highly valuable though, there is just too many of them. I can see myself owning the car for 10+ years so return on investment isn't really an issue to me.

If the motor can safely run big power without failure similar to the supra i think it can be an instant classic. This will only work though if the market dosent get saturated and production stays fairly low.

The NSX, MKIV Supra and S2000 were low production cars and they were the last of their kind. Yes, the new NSX and Supra are coming out but they will have no effect on the value of the previous models. Their is a huge generation/technology gap so they would be viewed as different cars, only sharing the same name.

By the looks of it, Toyota/Subaru will be making alot of FR-S/BRZ's and I think it'll continue to sell well enough that they'll introduce a next gen. If this holds true, and I think it will, the next gen will be better in every way.

it first i thought it would but now im not so sure. i think what makes cars classic is the fact that they have a gamechanger. whether it be the japanese going toe to toe with supercars in the 90s or eu taking on the giants in touring races with cars with half the power and weight. while this is the only new car that is exciting, i dont think it brings enough to the table to hang with things like the supra or the cooper as far as classics go.
