Help deciding Track specific coilovers
So as I continue doing track days and keep building car I think it is time I start heading to track specific coilovers and better suspension parts. I currently been doing HPDE events and will start my journey with NASA and maybe one or two Gridlife events in TR for 2025.
Currently I am Kswapped and running some coilovers from a Japan company a friend brought coilovers and been on car well 6yrs and have about 12-15 track days and some daily driving. Has served me well, but as I am getting more competitive I would like better coilovers. Currently on Cusco lower control arms and will be changing to Verus (lighter and my set up has some rust showing), have whiteline endlinks and some cusco braces. The coilovers been debating on is RCE SS-R or Fortune auto pro 2 way. Anybody have any comparison or ideas on each of these set ups? I personally wanted to go with RCE since seems like always helping and probably easier to get help on set up. Main reason was considering fortune auto was their involvement in Gridlife and people running them and doing very well. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I can't say enough good things about RCE and their involvement here on the forums. Plus they make a good product and I really enjoy their SS-1's.
I do see a lot of people running Fortune Autos for Grid Life. They're pretty much non-existent for autocross use, but track guys like them for some reason. Given the two sets you have listed, I'd be questioning if you need that much adjustability. Price-wise, you're talking $3k for RCE and nearly $5k for Fortune Auto. I think both are a bit of a big jump from where you're at and you might be better off with a single adjustable damper like the SS-1 or SS-2. So many knobs and adjustments can lead to a lot of trial and error. I think $5k for coilovers when you say you're literally just starting out with NASA and might do 2 Gridlife events is a lot to spend.

I did see price difference and the set up I don’t think will be a big deal. I have a shop that does everything for me usually. But, I do love their involvement here and reason want to go with them. I am only doing NASA since want to get better instructions then just me getting seat time and possibly building bad habits and don’t realize. I notice a lot of nasa guys always doing good. |

There is also 949 Xidas in the SS-R range.
But yes love RCE being active on the forums, Andrew is always great to deal with. |

Help deciding Track specific coilovers
I see a lot of people mentioning Shaftworks on the 86 Track Day group on Facebook.
Personally, I’m leaning towards RCE Superstreet 1 or 2 as a decent budget option. But I want something with an inverse shock for durability/longevity. Last edited by kevaughan; 09-28-2024 at 11:31 AM. |

I love my Shaftworks and would highly recommend them. Great on track and street. Also not crazy money for custom singles.

Really happy with the RCE SS2s on the BRZ. Also really happy with Xidas on the MX-5! Biggest difference is the Xidas are somewhat smooover on the street. But the RCE SS2s are also very streetable even with trackish 7k front 9k rear spring rates I'm running.

What kind of tires will you be running? Any aero/wings?
Sorry been traveling without my laptop and my phone gives me allll the ads on this forum. We've got one dude that switched to SSRs (with custom rates, softer than our standard) from FA 510s with a lot of good feedback. I've not had a chance to try the FA 2-ways, just seen some shock dynos. A 3 way like our SSRs can be really useful, but it is another layer of complexity. You would have a baseline and support, with the ability to tweak on top of that...but also could spend too much time fiddling when you don't need to. It is fun though and SSRs have plenty of spring rate head room if you get some real big aero and need it. They're really good stuff...tons of travel, great valving, plus the adjustability. A 2 way like the RCE T2s is a lot more simple. Still a lot of control, but it's easier. And SS2s are essentially plug and go play.
