Grats man.
Sounds like you got a great deal on the Camaro as well. I came from an SRT8 Challenger...so I know how torque can be addictive lol. It is all about picking what you like the most, or getting both. Heck, in a year or two, you can probably get a used twin for fairly cheap and have both! At least that is my plan, (I will probably get a used muscle car down the road...unless Subaru blows me away with a new Hatchback STI). My BRZ is a blast to drive around here (Washington state). I love my mountain roads and the twisties not too far away. But I do miss the pavement punishing torque of 8 cylinders. For now I get my torque feeling from my 1700cc Motorcycle > On that note...as a teen...I never understood how famous people had like 10 cars... Now I get it... |

Congrats. A friend of mine recently picked up a 1LE...night and day difference between that and a regular SS. The 1LE package has always been highly desirable and hard to get. It's basically Chevy's road course pkg for the street. Back in the '80s, you had to delete the air conditioning, along with a few other items, to even be able to get one.

They are the factory 1LE and ZL1 wheels. 20x10 front, 20x11 Rear with 285/35r20 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS2 Assymetricals.

So far I've only installed an Apex catch can, and the 1LE PVC separator, skip shift eliminator, and a few cosmetic items. Plan to run stock class and will be adding a cat back. Mayby eventually LT's, high flow cats, CAI, cam, and tune.

Enjoy your blind spots and extremely heavy car. Should have gotten a 5.0 if you wanted power. At least Ford is even further going to reduce the weight on the Mustang in the future.
I got rid of my 2002 Camaro SS 35th Anniversary because: A) It's not all about going fast in a straight line B) Daily driving it gets 18 mpg C) Long term reliability on electronics questionable (power windows, etc) D) Handling was not too outstanding Granted it was the last generation of the LS1, it was still fairly heavy, but nothing like the new one. They're good weekend cars and I plan on owning either a Mustang or a new gen Camaro that is lighter than the current one a few years down the road as a weekend warrior car. |

That looks like fun. Tell me... can it do burnouts without breaking stuff? Sometimes I just really crave an effortless gigantic tire roast. I've never had a car that could truly do it well.

Congrats on the car... very nice. I spent some time autocrossing a mostly-stock '02 SS this year - that thing surprised the heck out of me. Immensely FUN and it had some nice handling traits... I was not that expecting that especially on tight-ish autocross courses.

The thing that bothered the most was the fragile tranny. His grenaded at 4000 miles. The 1LE suspension behavior is much better composed with less pitch and roll. The 1LE,s are blowing away the Boss 302"a and even the Laguna Secas on the track. Mustangs are scaling out at about 3500 to 3600 pounds. My stripper 1LE at about 3700 to 3800. Both are pigs. The 1LE just happens to be a faster pig on the road course.
