If I were to keep the car for a long time, I'd certainly want to get my hands on an authentic FSM, and any software to diagnose it too. You can only do so much with an OBD scanner and forum threads. When these cars get old, the average shadetree mechanic is really going to struggle I bet.

Days like this I wonder how fun it would be to drive this small RWD out in the snow. Too bad me and my FRS are on reduced-sodium diets...

Should make gokarting that much more exhilarating over the monotony of driving a FWD car through winter traffic. Definitely looking forward to that!

Maybe it's different for Toyota/Subaru, but we don't have books anymore at MAzda.
This will either make it easier or harder to get a copy of a FSM as our stuff is all online.

Doesn't matter the brand. I was the second owner of an 03 Sunfire that had 376k when I sold it. Had 120% less rust than the 2000 Sunfire with 160k it replaced, and still had the original clutch.

That is just crazy! don't see that often!

I very much so miss driving the FR-S. I took the covers off mine yesterday just to have a look. My Trickle charger disconnected from the wall, and fell on the fender.. leaving a small ding..

Thank goodness for being in the auto business when help is just a phone call away. 60-80$ though.. not bad for keeping care of a fun car!

About to order Ecutek! end of this month im placing my order

Winter mishaps are much more frequent, who knows what would happen if it had been out on the road all winter. Someone launched a chunk of ice out of there snowblower yesterday and smashed the side of my car. If that was my frs the guys face would have tasted his auger. Thankfully it was my miserable winter car and I didn't even bother to stop and look at the damage.

God bless the winter beaters I was parallel parked in the market recently in the middle of a que of cars. I am watching this guy back up in to the front my beater and he makes a firm contact. He gets out of the car to inspect, I asked him if he was having fun backing in to my with my beater?

I told him not to worry about it. We shook hands and off he goes with a smile. I am thinking the same, should that have been my Argento I would have been ...

Good choice. The Whiteline insert install to remove transmission slop was very simple.
Instructions should help with the Perrin mount too although you might need to loosen a few other bolts to get enough clearance to move the part into place.

Wheel hop and shifter shaking under load for fast takeoffs is significantly reduced.

Thanks @OrangeGuitar, removing these underpanel bolts made me realize I need a more portable impact wrench - @AznKirby has witnessed my brute strength before *cough cough*.

Anyone has info on portable impacts ? My dad has a DeWalt set of tools so I would probably get one of these, but I'm concerned about battery luge ? Would it last long enough to change 4 wheels, for example ?

Make sure you get a 1/2" impact wrench so that you have enough torque.

I have Craftsman that uses a 19.2V LiIon extra capacity battery and I can do 4 or 5 tire changes without any problems.
