I was talking to Zac Lopes, owner of our local motorbike accessories shop on Wed, and he says that the cars noticably bugger up Red Star for bikes.
He reckons that cars create ripples in the tar in the braking areas which unsettle the bikes.

However, he does understand the economics of it, and would rather ride on a rippled track than no track.
Perhaps he should try Midvaal - then he'll never whine about ripples again.

I say so what. Everyone has the same challenges to overcome. Maybe they should straighten out the corners to make it easier

Oh, I'll be at Red Star on Friday. Who else?
I think @JouMaSeHoes en sy broer might be, and probably Karthik with his beemer.

Looking forward to anti-clockwise.
My best AC time is 2m23.3, so I've got some work to get down to my best CL time of 2m19.1

Maybe one day when we're big, we'll also have grunt like this.
Watch this very seriously twin-turbo'd M3 lay down 11's powering out of the right-hander

For the "unbelievers", I've added before and after pics.

Those lines look weird. But it doesn't matter if you have enough POWAH! that's seriously quick.

So one advantage of Red Star being so flat is..... no blind corners!

Thanks guys . At least I was going slow-ish due to tailing the BMW. I wonder how big the driver's eyes were when he realised he'd spun and was looking at the oncoming traffic. Strangely enough, I didn't panic at all. There was quite a lot of time for reaction - I've regularly had closer shaves in JHB traffic lol.

It drizzled a touch in the morning but basically just stayed overcast. The track was nice and cool which made it quite a pleasant surface to drive on. None of that crazy midday heat putting a damper on tyres, brakes and engine power . I did take a bit of a chance signing up though.

The policy of the organisers seems to be "we won't cancel unless it's effectively hailing". So everyone is pretty much forced to go home due to sanity, but they keep their $$$.

Correct, but don't worry about the weather, just take it easy and you'll have plenty fun and learn a lot
Nice thing about bad weather is minimal traffic

I'd thought I'd wait a bit after your incident at the Z before sharing this.
It doesn't always work out as well as it did for you...
