I gotta say you looked in the wrong(Please don't take it the wrong way...). But typically who ever hit the other car is automatically at fault.

Eh I think he was just stunned/confused and didn't know what to do for a couple seconds.

I told him at the scene we'd likely have to be 50/50, but the cop made it seem all-or-nothing based on his blinker. Additionally, the driver didn't own the car, it was his brother's and it wasn't insured yet. My guess is his insurance didn't want fight on that weak foundation.

Clearly it is the other guys fault, but that said, I learned to to drive on a motorcycle first. So my instinct has and will always be that everyone is out to kill me.

So unless I was in a major rush for something very important, I probably would not have pulled up next to him in the first place.

The fortunately thing is that nobody was hurt and the damage to you vehicle, while painful, is minor in the scheme of things!

As unfortunate as this incident was, it's nice to see two folks handle an uncomfortable situation calmly and kindly. Kudos for that.

I always drive expecting every other driver to do something stupid all of the time. That one was easily predictable, sadly. Try not to put yourself or others in harm's way, unless of course it's necessary in order to prevent greater harm.

Woah, whoah!

The other driver didn't have insurance? Then he shouldn't have been driving that Hyundai on public roadways to begin with.

In THIS case when he was pulling onto a public roadway from a private parking area, he was knowingly violating the law in most states regarding proof of financial responsibility, whether your car was hit or not.

I change my opinion: The other driver should not have been driving on public roadways without insurance, and this is 100% his fault because of that.

You should check your state laws on that subject, because in many states, your insurance should cover for damages caused by uninsured or underinsured drivers, then your insurance company will have to sue the other driver in order to recover damages. You should not have to pay a penny for this.

That was only one part of a sequence of events that led up to this incident. The other driver had no insurance and shouldn't have been on the road in the first place. The driver of the Hyundai is a bigger "d-bag"........but is it really necessary to name call here?

if it was me I would not assume that driver to be turning left OR right. not even straightened out and I would have no idea where they are going.

Would've honked and then went around.

Yeah I've been driving like less of a douche the last few years, but I can see where you're coming from in this instance.

I'm likely gonna buy this dude a dashcam as the cop gave me his info. Might save his butt from douche behavior in the future

Mistakes were made. I think you both seemed very responsible and no drama attitude.

My Europa was nearly a foot lower than your FR-S (the Caterham even lower). Surprised the heck out of a lot of people who weren't paying attention.

My only sighting of an Europa was at a Sunday morning BBQ meet in Bay D’urfe QC August 2, 2015. I had a hard time getting up from my low photo position. And so did this guy trying to get the inside POV…

With all the higher vehicles around It is kind of hard sometimes to do a right turn at intersections as people at the left stop so far forwards sometimes.
