Tuned ECU from '13 into '16?

I want to move my AVO turbo engine from a '13 into a '16. I know the ECUs are the same part number between the cars.

After I swap the engine over -- moving the '16 coils and ignition harness to the '13 first -- can I use the tuned and locked ECU from the '13 in the '16?

Both cars are key start, so I assume I need to swap over the instrument cluster from the '13 to the '16 as well.

There is alot of time and money in this tune from Drift Office. Maybe I should just call them to see if they'll port it over for a nominal fee?

Thoughts?

They might be the easier option but it'll likely cost you another license

@steve99 would know.

On a side note, you need a hand getting that lava pulled apart?

Possibly. I am grateful for the offer.

What I really need is an inside space that is large enough to have both cars side by side for the swap.

I have a garage and a small shop. But both are full of vintage parts from other marques, sporting equipment, construction materials for home improvement projects, etc.

I have the same issue. I got kicked out of working on stuff at my work since we are really busy and I won't be into my new place with shop until August.

Either way, just let me know. Would be happy to lend a hand.

The 2013 ecu calibration will work fine in 2016 car, as long as both manual or both auto.

If you were using a 2016 ecu calibration in a 2013 car it would thow some cel code re dash and alternator.

but be fine a 13 ecu calibration in a 2016 car same transmission type doesnt matrer key or push start or if its brz 86 or frs

If your jist swapping ecu then you will need to use the ecu swap proceedure i posted here on the forum

but DO NOT change the vin number in ecu with ecutek licience in it you eill loose the ecutek licience. Just swap in ghe ecu and resync security the car doesnt care about the vin

If the region you live in does emissions tests plugged into the OBD port it'll check the VIN and validate it against the chassis VIN.

we dont have reqular emmissions tests.

But i have heard some places in usa like Californa are very strict and check vin in ecu matches car

If its not an ecutek tuned ecu you can just change the vin with techstream and no issues, but ecutek keys licence to vin so you loose ecutek licience
