Only difference is reduced droop travel with the B8, to retain lowering springs when the car is lifted. However B6s are fine for up to something just over 1" lower. So B6 with more droop travel might be "better". But then again at 1.25" lowered I like that I don't have to jack the car up as much to get wheels off the ground.

Rally X spring. For loose surfaces. Roughly ½" lift.

I just ordered a set of B6s to pair with my set of yellow springs. Looking forward to improved ride quality.
I think my 2017 shocks are tired after 75k km 3 winters, and a few track sessions. |

A bit stiffer than Yellows, closer to Tarmacs. Also the rears are stiffer than fronts for wheel rates closer to f/r weight distribution. I picked them because moar lower. Which didn't work so well with the factory PP Sachs struts + Raceseng camber plates! Really happy with them with the Bilsteins.

Great thread. I'm running B6's with Hotchkis Sport Springs. I was concerned that I was making the wrong choice, but the B8 were back ordered at the time which made the decision for me.
The ride feels a bit busy but it's never harsh or unsettled by bumps at speed. -Mike

Pretty straightforward. You have to unscrew the lower nut (bolt?) and slide the hydraulic portion out of the strut housing. IMO it's not a necessary step, I was just making sure I had plenty of bump travel. If I had it to do over I'd probably leave them alone.

I finished with my RCE yellow + B6 combo.
Short term impressions are great. They feel noticably better than good condition OE shocks+yellows and MUCH better than the tired shocks I pulled off with 75k km. The ride is firm but never jarring. Handles manhole covers a lot better. Overall stability is noticably improved. Corner entry, on throttle exit feels sharp and precise. The higher pressure from the B6 makes the car feel a lot more supported if that makes any sense. On OE dampers it felt like the springs were doing all the work and the shocks were along for the ride.(especially near the end at 75k km. They felt more acceptable when I installed them at 50k) B6s feel like they match really well with the spring rates. My ride height seems to be the same. I did not measure anything, just based on visual inspection. Alignment doesn't feel like it changed much, but I'll still be having alignment checked and corrected if needed. I took photos to match my camber bolt settings to get everything close. Prior settings were -2.3F/-1.9R, 0 toe F/R Top is B6+yellow Bottom is yellow + OE damper. Edit added B6 shot from below while I was doing spring maintenance. Last edited by RToyo86; 04-11-2021 at 02:55 PM. |

@RToyo86:
Might I ask a favor or two. First, what sized tires/wheels are you running? Second, could you take and post another image taken from the side, with the lens at door handle height or top of tire height? Many thanks,
