So I got a call this morning from Hendrick Toyota, they'd gotten their allocation finally. Since I was lucky enough to be first on their list, I went in and bought the new LE Supra. I was hoping for white, but they were given the VIN for a red one. Ah well, my 86 is red, so I can live with it. Once I see it in person, hopefully I love it. If not, there's always wraps.

Pictures and videos to come soonish. Whenever the car actually gets in.

Why not just wait a couple more months for the color you actually want?

Mainly because I want a LE, because I'm hoping for higher resale when the time comes.

I’m getting over track time comparisons. I just don’t care that much which car is two tenths of a second faster around a track with a pro driver. I just want engaging driver’s cars. Without the manual the Supra kinda loses any chance of competing with a M2, Cayman or other manuals in my book, yet I would take the Supra over the TT or Camaro.

The car looks like it was made to be a wide body.

https://paultan.org/2019/05/17/a90-t...ched-in-japan/

Article I found with information on the Japanese spec models: SZ, SZ-R and RZ.

Some notes on the models we aren't getting:

--SZ has a turbo 4 cylinder making 195hp/236tq
--SZ-R has a turbo 4 cylinder making 254hp/295tq
--SZ, SZ-R have smaller brakes
--SZ doesn't have adaptive suspension
--SZ doesn't have an active differential
--SZ is slower to 60 than the 86 (6.5 seconds vs 6.3)
--SZ has 17'' rims, SZ-R has 18'' rims, maybe tire downgrades
--There are interior differences in trim such as cloth manual seats on the SZ.

I could see us getting the SZ-R in the states, but I can't imaging many would want the SZ unless the price was right. The SZ is $45k, the SZ-R is $55k and the RZ is $65k, roughly. Considering the RZ starts at $50k here, there could be interest in the SZ model if it was priced between $30-35k, something like the cost of a base model 2 series.
