Just a total mess. First time with this org, so I was in Group C at first. It was the same schedule as Turn2, but:

First session: Two timed laps, then black flag for a miata dumping dirt all over T3

Second session: Check ride into group B. Two timed laps, then a black flag for i dunno what.

Third and fourth sessions were okayish. They also added an extra session for Group C from 1230-1 due to the earlier issues, but at that point I was no longer in Group C so I didn't go out.

Fifth session: Cancelled entirely because a Group A NSX got buried in the sand outside T8. When they finally got him out, the tow driver told him to stay on the grass for a bit. He didn't. He left a trail of gravel around the track that had to be cleared. Track was shut down for 40 minutes.

Sixth session: I didn't get the memo, but it was moved from 3:20 to 3:15. They were trying to make sure everyone still got the same number of sessions. I got out there at 3:16. They threw the checkered at 3:21.

Seventh session: They decided to split up the 4pm block into two 30-minute sessions, so I finally got a decent run.

All in all, I wasn't thrilled. I got 3 usable track sessions out of 7. I realize that the organizers weren't responsible for all of the issues, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth.

Edit: for the 3 sessions I got, I only gave point-bys to an NSX and two M3s, so I felt good about that. Passed a lot of the 86s out there, but I didn't really talk to them afterwards. Wasn't feeling particularly social due to the general bad mood.

The guy in the mostly stock silver FRS was cool. He was pretty fast in that thing too. He did both days and helped instruct on Sunday.

I can't either. House hunting is really eating into my track time. :\

Big weekend @ PIR Aug 17-19 | Dash for Kids

Cascade Sports Car Club is hosting their annual Dash for Kids race weekend which benefits the Doernbecher children's hospital. Several cools things all in one weekend!

Lots of HPDE opportunity for open lapping and School for those who love seat time and/or coaching by some of the best local racers. There is HPDE lapping on both Friday and Saturday.

During the race weekend several drivers will be donating rides around the track in exchange for a donation to Dash for Kids charity. Bring your family, kids, significant other etc on Saturday or Sunday and get them a ride in a proper race car - for a good cause.

Message from the Chairman:
Quote:
The Dash for Kids charity race weekend is coming up on August 18th and 19th at PIR with a Driver's School, HPDE, and Test and Tune on Friday, August 17th. Since Cascade's novice group is historically low in August, we've decided to combine novices in with the regular run groups (novice closed wheel sign up for Group 7), and instead we'll have an HPDE group that will run three, 20 minute sessions with 50% of that entry fee going to the Dash for Kids charity.
Also, both Saturday and Sunday during lunchtime, Cascade will be giving noontime rides with the proceeds going to the Dash for Kids charity.
This is Friday's registration:

Saturday's Registration:

I'm registered for that event, but I don't know if I'll be able to go. I cracked my JDL header on Sunday sometime during the afternoon sessions. JDL will take care of me with the warranty, but I'll still be without a header for a while (and I'd rather not track on a stock header with my current tune).

Event was pretty smooth otherwise. Much better than last time I went with TSS/RevScene. Lots of traffic, though, so I could only manage a 2:04.00.

I want to make it to ORP once this year, so it's NWAA or Team Continental I n September...so far NWAA wins for the cheap track day award.

what group were you driving with? B group is usually ok, but A Group is much better in term of traffic

The Team Continental event has already been canceled to do not enough early registration.
