Yeah, drag is a huge factor, but also that's literally the reason for the port/direct fuel injection setup in these cars. Good economy below 4k, better power above.

Things like OFT simply adjust the changeover to help offset the torque dip on the gen 1 (and you take the economy hit).

I assume the new car has basically done that from the manufacturer as part of the solution (in addition to more displacement).

My long term average is 8.9l/100km or 26.4 mpg.

That include winter driving in snow (took delivery Jan 13) and a fairly even mix of city and highway. IIRC my FRS was at 8.5l/100km.

Track day tomorrow. I should reset the counter for shits and giggles.

On a fun sidenote, granny-driving made no significant difference in my economy on E85, so back to normal asshattery. ��

That's what I've found with my GEN1, driving gently doesn't make a difference, which is good because I ain't got time for that.

If that was measured based upon the ECU calculation, it is not accurate and not worth a darn. The only way you can get an accurate MPG measurement is to do it manually based upon actual gas used (and even then on a single case basis is unreliable as you don't know if the automatic cutoffs for different gas pumps behave differently).

Yeah, back on the stock tune, my best single tank based on mileage/gallons was 38 mpg during a long road trip and I averaged 36 mpg over the course of the entire drive. In normal day to day I consistently stayed right at 30 mpg only dropping a bit lower during AutoX months.

Then I did the basic OFT tune and it dropped to 28 mpg and the E85 OFT dropped further to about 23-24 mpg.

Nope. Miles divided by gallons added. Unless the mileage counter is off. I was blown away best I ever did. Usually it’s 33.

For reference, my turbo’d gen 1 clocks about 10l/100km (approx 23.5mpg) on average throughout the year including “real” winters ( read many feet of snow :-) ) mostly short distances and hilly provincial roads, with the odd longer highway trip. If I drive slower on highways I can get down to about 7.8l/100km on a given trip. (Approx 30mpg). Adding the turbo actually slightly (I’d say about 10%) improved my consumption relative to stock way back when driving “normally”… Now During HPDEs, I’m more around 36l/100km (6.5mpg)…! So it really depends how you drive it…
