Front Splitter Adjustment

I had a front splitter installed however when checking the angle of attack it was tilted backwards. Apparently the optimum angle is between .5 and 5 degrees tilted forward. I have the rods maxed out at 2 degrees backwards of level. Am I splitting hairs or not?. It seems a backwards angle would just cause lift at the front.

I always tried to have mine level to the ground when the car was at its resting ride height. Having the front tilted up does seem to be less than ideal when generating down force. One thing I would consider though is under braking when the front of the car is diving a tilted up splitter may actually approach a zero angle relative to the ground. One issue I sometimes encountered was a splitter that was level to the ground would sometimes hit the ground under braking situations depending on the slope of the ground.

I have the same issue with a Devsport splitter. It fastens to the bottom of the bumper cover which causes it to angle upward. I'm going to fashion wedges out of treated plywood to get it level and then use material from Speedway Motors to make an air dam. If it doesn't look like crap, I'll post pictures.

I think everyone that installs a front splitter needs to check this. I was able to get to 0.0 and many say that is optimum so I'll leave it alone.

The first splitter I made had a negative rake (~.75") by accident. When realized, I made a second one that was more appropriately angled at .5* up in the back. At road America I picked up a couple MPH (and a little better balance but different days so take that for what it's worth) down the front straight so it stands to reason that, with a negative rake, it wasn't as efficient as it could have been.

It is, however, nearly impossible to get out of my driveway with the splitter on.

You can also use rubber door seal to space it down and seal it to the bumper cover.

I had an off and the rear of my splitter came loose and it was angled up a few degrees. Car handled like shit after that. Getting it flat, or tilted down a bit helps a lot.

My splitter is now level and air dammed. It looks like amateur work because it is.
