Can't remember if I've posted in this thread but I got a set of 215/45/17 Continental Vikingcontact7 last season and love them.

Low noise, don't feel particularly spongy/soft while driving, and pretty good grip in dry and rain.

We get slushy snow here FWIW, and I felt very confident commuting with them last winter.

Pat, I haven't finished watching it yet, but here is a recent look at newer winter tires:

I've been eye balling the Pirelli ice zero asimmetrico, new tire this year and haven't seen any hard data on it yet. My two year old vikkingcontact 7s past their prime, and I liked the ice zero FRs I ran previously.

The Hakka R5 are a thing too, just significantly more expensive locally than everything else.

It's hard to believe I started this thread 11 years ago! Just bought a 2023 BRZ and I'm in the market for new winters. These Contis are my front runner, was thinking about doing the 16 inch but may go 17 for more wheel options. Are you still loving these winters?

Yessir! They are all around pretty good. We get more slush than snow typically and they have worked quite well for that. My coworker got them on his GTI as well and has no complaints.

I'm buying another set this winter to replace old ones. Pretty much top of its class for Nordic winters and they're cheaper than comparable blizzak or Michelin.

Ran crossclimate 2s all winter they were great in the cold and rainy conditions in NJ and when it snowed they were passable. I had to drive with care but never got stuck in ~4inches of snow and never felt out of control. Not as good as a dedicated winter tire in snow but much better than a winter tire in the wet and dry.
