Budget Performance mods that aren’t noisy?
So I would like to increase power a little bit in my car, but I’m not sure where to start.
I don’t want to get a turbo or a supercharger because it’s too expensive and I don’t want to risk blowing my engine. Many people say to get a catless header, but I’ve a TRD edition with TRD catback and it’s already pretty noisy, and the noise is really loud when going on a highway. Also I would like to pass an inspection. So, are there any other mods that I can make to increase power even if it’s just a few horsepower? Thanks! |

Is E85 available in Poland? You mentioned passing an inspection so obviously you have those concerns where you live. If E85 is readily available, and you can legally use it, it will give you a significant gain without adding any noise. You'll need an open flash tablet, which would cost you about $400 US.

NA these engines are already pretty tapped out.
E85 and/or an aftermarket header are your two main options. Beyond that you aren't going to notice gains other bits would give you. |

I already have TRD wheels as well as pilot sport 4.
E85 isn’t avalible in my city, and there are probably only few gas stations that sell this. I saw some people on polish groups that make their own E85, but that’s not something I would want to do. What about some smaller things? Like specific oil, oil filter, air filter or whatever? |

The first mods I did so far are the Whiteline diff insert and TRD Transmission mount. The car isn't any faster but it feels faster ha. It's also just makes the car feel more sporty and more fun to drive. Shifts a bit bit better etc etc.
I am having the TRD motor mounts installed this week and I have subframe bushing inserts as well I hope to install before my next track day. Beside this my car is stock and the the mods really added to the experience of driving around town.

Briefly tried OFT stg1 on my 2017 when swapping headers around and didn't notice a difference. Unlike with a catless/Catted header which gives you a more noticeable power bump. Even that is still subtle, most of the power is noticeable from 3000-5000
A high flow drop in filter + a inlet tube can net a few hp. You aren't going to feel the difference but there is something there. |

Doubtful. Tune really only required if you made other changes, like a catless header. I don't think a catback would count as a significant enough change that you'd benefit from a tune. Specifically asked my known/respected tuner about doing iterations to get an optimized tune on a stock setup, he said don't bother... We did multiple iterations on tuning my car for ACE-350 header and the results, particularly midrange were pretty stellar! Was thinking of going back to stock to get "points" back for my time-trialling class...

Perrin inlet tube, or equivalent, that removes the factory sound tube. It will net some power up top while making the car more comfortable (less engine noise).

And how much did the sound increase in your opinion from catless header? I can’t stand my car’s noise at 90mph, and it’s only a catback. Also, is the torque difference noticeable a lot? Like for example do you fell being pushed into the seat when accelerating? |

Catted header probably isn't worth the money for most people but it's up to you. It will increase low and mid-range torque a little bit and change the sound. Gains at the top end probably won't be noticable.

+1 on the final drive change. A Cusco 4.556 Vs the stock 4.10 will give you a noticeable increase in the feel of acceleration. It's definitely NOT a budget mod though.
