Best Coilovers?
Well I have an automatic and I DD it as it is my only car anyways. I bring it to car shows/meets. I don't plan on tracking it and making it a dyno monster because 1. automatic, 2. full-time student, 3. full-time employee. Anyways, it will mostly be a DD Show Car. My next mod will be going into coilovers or shocks/springs and I need advice according to what I will be using my car for. HELP!
To clarify.. I want coilovers or shocks/springs for DD, smoothness, and that flush look. I want to lower my car around 2-2.5" and slap 17" or 18" wheels on it. I'm going for the flush look. Money isn't too much of a factor, as am saving up for it and will also have my tax income. Last edited by VADER; 12-07-2012 at 07:42 PM. Reason: confusion.. |

Why coilovers? Just to get it slammed?

It sounds like lowering springs would be best for you. Since it seems you care mostly about looks I would think it's the best for you. If I had to choose I would say KW V3 but those are very pricey for someone on a budget.
Quality and ride seem important as well and I would say the RCE is getting good reviews. |

The fact that you put KW's and Ksports into the same list tells me you're not really ready for coilovers.

I don't want to sacrifice quality of ride though and I don't want something that down the road will break. I want high quality. And I'm saving up plus I'm getting around $4k on tax income. Looking to get wheels, rubbers, and coilovers.

Just from what I heard from others experiences, you could probably knock off the KSport and Megan from your list. I'd be skeptical if those were actually upgrades from our stock showa shocks |

These threads typically get the first question asked to quantify - what are the requirements for your car? You have answered, "I want show car slammed look with as good of ride quality as possible". With that in mind, the title of your thread will be misleading for people dropping by to vote, but not reading thread as they will just rate the coilovers they perceive as overall "best". In many cases "best" will mean different things to different people (best ride quality, best tracking, best flexibility (both off and on track), best from an ease of adjustment perspective, etc, etc...). So you might want to retitle thread "Best coilovers for show and ride quality".
Just a thought. Carry on. |

Define "best"
best for a cheap coilover and slamming the car? best for motorsports? best for all around driving and comfort? The answer to all of those questions is different. But it sounds like you just want it to be low so get whatever. At the ~$1000 price point it's all the same shit anyway. |

Tein SRC.
It's also by far the most expensive available from the included brands, but you get what you pay for. We're doing some additional testing this weekend at the track; we're taking 4 additional sets of springs to see what is the best setup for both handling at the tracks, while maintaining ride quality for street duty. |

for the OP: in terms of the best true damper, you don't even have them listed on the poll. |

Sorry, just listed what I've seen so far. I could use some education on Coilovers since this is the first car I've ever bothered to mod haha |

Once you say DD for daily driver, I immediately say KW. I've had KW V2's on my vehicle for the last year, just got a new car, and looking to get KW's just after 300 miles on my brand new car, because I know KW will be comfortable for the street, but good enough for performance when I want to ramp it up.
I think that's probably why I get more KW orders than anything else |
