Black backed Toyota badges
So this is my first thread. Hi all.
I looked around for an example of this, and not being able to find anything, I decided I'd just do it my way and show what I did. Anyway, I wanted a rebadge, but since my car is white, I felt that just the plain silver Toyota badges wouldn't have enough contrast to look good. So here's my fix: Start with the Toyota badge. I got mine from Nigel. I got some 3M gloss black vinyl and cut out a small square to work with. Flip the badge over and note the 2 pegs. I applied whiteout to the tips of each peg. Then carefully touch the 2 pegs to the top of the vinyl while the whiteout is still wet. This will make 2 dots on the vinyl so you will know where to make holes. Make holes where the marks are. I used a Dremel tool with a drill type bit. Line up the holes in the vinyl with the pegs on the back of the badge. Once the holes are lined up, carefully cut it out so it takes the oval shape of the badge. I then cut just a little extra around the vinyl to make sure nothing would stick out from behind the badge when it's on the car. After you remove the old badges and clean off the glue residue, peel the backing off the vinyl, line up the holes, and apply the vinyl to the car where the badge was. Finally, apply the new badge over the vinyl and enjoy. Hope this helps someone! |
