Just the hassle and the thought of going through the whole process. I wanted to have the TRD springs on my car, but I was told before that I may possibly need lower arms to bring back the alignment within stock spec which may cause it to become a bit costly and would certainly be annoyed by it if I don't even pass. This whole RECON this is new to me as we don't have that here in California. Besides, I even heard that the road condition out there is a mess and having suspension would not be practical on the island.

I'm thinking of picking up a pair of racing seats, but wasn't sure a non-operable airbag are allowed or not.

Racing seats are legal. With some exceptions
I have a crazy build and I recently failed recon for the following.

•turn signal flashes too fast
•no side marker
•not enough suspension travel
• non Dot head lights.

The inspection was completely subjective. The inspector couldn't find the DOT markings on my stock head lights so he failed me. According to him the front lights are required to have DOT markings but the tears are not. His opinion was that the turn signal flashes the same speed as a hazard so he failed me. I haven't found anything that states the side marker must contain a bulb but he failed me since mine had none. He compared my suspension to a Tacoma trucks which was 4x4 and has independent suspension made for off road which of course will have more travel.

Thanks for the help! I'm still debating, but I rather not do anything with the car that involves RECON and perhaps leave it near stock. I pretty much just have clear side markers and a relatively quite exhaust. Just by the picture of your car, it does look quite intense yet perhaps issues with the cops/laws. I'm still resided in California, but if you run into a cop in certain parts of Los Angeles with your car, the cops will probably make you strip your 86 naked for all of the mods you have on the car. But indeed, the car looks awesome =)

Does anyone here have a "regular" FR-S w/ the TRD springs on stock struts, running bigger wheels and passed recon?

Just brought my car to the islands!

It's of course in good shape, but with a TPM warning light and very stiff Bilstein coils and a big diffuser it may be hard to pass inspection. Has anyone got a recommendation for where I should get it inspected?

Also, are front plates required here?

Yea it certainly is kind of a run on...sorry for annoying you and the rest.
Never had to deal with such thing so taking as much precautions as I can than be sorry for something that could've been prevented to save the time/money. That's all. Thanks.
