FR-S stock sway bars compared to TRD bars
I have been considering the TRD sway bar kit for my 2015 FR-S and would like some information about the stock bars compared to the TRD ones. I can see from the specifications at the Scion website that the TRD bars are about 2 mm bigger in diameter and made of some type of spring steel. What about the stock bars? Are they also spring steel? Has anyone installed these and if so could you provide a review of them compared to the stock ones? Do they make a big difference, a small difference, or no difference?
Thanks!

I have them. If you are talking about the red sway bars, then yeah. If you're talking about yellow ones (I think), then disregard this post.
Me and a buddy are running the same exact setup. TRD lowering springs with TRD sway bars along with a TRD front strut just because. However we are two different people though. He is a track monster and tracks the car all the time. Me on the other hand, I just drive it to work and back and it sits in the garage. For me, the TRD sway bars are NO different from stock. I don't feel much difference at all. Maybe a little less body roll, but I'm PRETTY sure that's just the placebo effect playing on me. For my friend though who tracks the car, he says that he actually feels a SLIGHT difference, and it does improve slightly. Car is more steady to that 0 point and less less less body roll, according to him. It compliments very well with the TRD springs too. tl;dr: What do you use the car for? If its track, it's a slight and slim difference of an improvement. If you just drive it to work and etc etc, then its the same shit. |

Sways should be a 'fine-tuning' type of mod. They can actually make things worse if you don't pick the right sways for your setup. Obviously the TRD bars will be made to go with the TRD springs and struts.
If you're all out of upgrades (control arms, coils/struts/coilovers, every bushing made under the sun, positive steering upgrades, custom shit) then go for sways imo. |

I have them but they were always on the car since I got it. When I did the back to back drive of the stock 13, my 14 with the bars and RS*R Superlows and the stock 15 I did notice a difference between all 3 but it was minimal.
Like Corry said it may be a bigger difference when tracking but for regular street use I don't think the bang for the buck is there.
