BMW's internal image of the S58 ECU/DME features the Supra. This typically only happens when parts are shared with that particular car so they only need to produce a single image instead one for each car. Thoughts?

It is hard to compare vehicles that are so different in price. The Supra is the better buy. Tuning ability and customization is something to consider too. I really don’t see Cayman builds too often. What type of power are the 718’s capable of? The Cayman is down on displacement, but is mid engine.

I watched that video a couple of days ago. Sofyan's videos are quite thorough and relatively unbiased.

I totally agree with all points here. The Supra is definitely the better value and the aftermarket support is growing rather quickly considering it's only been out for less than a year.

I'm sure the steering, tranny (PDK) and balance is better in the Cayman than the Supra. Though not worth $40k+ more, for most buyers. On that note, not a lot of people are going to cross-shop these cars, considering their price difference, even though the Supra was benchmarked on the Cayman. Also, for that much more coin, I'd expect the Porsche to have the better interior and tech features.

Also, the newer 2021 4.0 6-cyl GTS starts at $90k, has less torque than the Supra and is "estimated" (according to Porsche) slower at 4.3 seconds 0-60. Hmmm.

The big thing for me would be the manual transmission in the Cayman, but a swap is still cheaper than the Porsche.

Car and Driver tested 3.6 seconds to 60 in a 2017 Cayman S PDK, and 4.1 seconds for a 2018 Cayman GTS manual, 0.3 to 0.4 tenths quicker than Porsche's. Porsche's 0-60 numbers are conservative, they probably don't give the cars a 1-ft "rollout" that the carmags apparently do... GTS 4.0 PDK should be a few tenths quicker as well.

For sure the Supra is a *much* better bargain. I would also bet that it wins in real-world "fun-to-driveness". But I bet the FT86 beats both of 'em on that count
