Stock: Lowered on Ohlins RT: The fronts on my Ohlins are currently "lower" because I wanted to fit the wheels right. They will be about 5mm higher once I get the Raceseng Cascam plates. -alex |

If you do a standard +1 to get from 17" to 18" it won't really change much. (going from 215/45/17 to 215/40/18). The gap will remain the same and you won't achieve a look that visually closes the fender gap (lowered look). There are lots of examples of stock ride height (un-lowered) cars running 18's on the board. They're still have the SUV look. You will have to increase the rolling radius of the tire to fill the gap, or go with a mild spring drop in the .8" variety, as with RCE Yellows, RSR-Downs (not super downs), or Eibach Pro-Kit (not Sportline).

I also have a bunch of pics posted in a thread about Eibach Sportline Reviews. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=15079&page=3 Also a bunch more pics in wheels>Enkei RSF5. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=48486&page=2 I don't have a current pic of my stance though. Currently I have 15mm spacers front/25mm spacers rear. The most recent pics I have do not have front spacers installed yet so the front tires look a little bit tucked in. 15mm looks much better, but I think 10mm would've been better. Either way I'm satisfied with it. I don't feel like spending more money just to make a 5mm difference that's barely noticeable.

I'm upgrading to the KW V3's from the Tarmac 0's. Time to see what adjustable dampening is all about. Might even improve my ride some lowered on the street. I've been told by several you can't go wrong with them.

Nice. I've read good things about KW V3's. Let me know how those work for you!

Yep, will do. Going to take some time to let them settle in, adjust ride height, and hopefully get my final alignment again at Jerry's. They do custom alignments unlike Firestone and their crappy lifetime alignment which is only for stock specs.

I voted... lower your car only enough to close out the wheel gap whilst still maintaining as much symmetry as possible... Cant stand "stance"

OP should have named this thread, "how to justify retaining factory wheel gap." A car slammed on its rim was the comparative example, while a moderately lowered car should have also been provided.
As @mav1178 has shown, a moderately lowered car of approximately 1" removes unwanted top wheel gap resulting in an aesthetically improved appearance, an opinion most forum posters agree with. What matters is retaining the top 1/3 of the wheel well symmetry, not all of it. If you want to retain all symmetry, then you'll need to put 20's on, like the car below. Personally I don't like the gangsta DUB look. IMHO 18's with a moderate lowering look best on this car. |

Gonna try taking my spare tire out and seeing if that makes any difference with my saggy butt. I'm thinking Sportlines are too low for me. Should've went with a Pro-Kit I think. My Sportlines look almost slammed.
