Throw out bearing replacement(estimated cost)

So my car is at 57k and I'm getting that whirring/grinding noise when clutch is depressed. How much did you guys pay for labor to replace in socal area? The 2017 tob part is approx 20$ alone

Not gonna do it myself cause I don't even have tools for an oil change

In my experience if you are going to change the throwout bearing just buy a new Clutch Kit that already includes it... you are going to have to pull the transmission out anyway, might as well do it. Just my two cents... i think labor should be around $400

Definitely contact Autotuned. Good opportunity to do a full clutch replacement/upgrade anyway. Maybe even upgrade the flywheel if you want.

don't forget the fork, etc. And don't replace anything with just the oem crap, get upgraded parts.

I have a friend who is a former Toyota Master Mechanic who can do clutches (he works in aerospace now). He's done multiple FRS's, including mine and a few others' on this forum. He has all his own tools and can come to you. You just supply your own parts.

He charges around $300. PM me if you would like to get in touch with him and talk details and price.

Edit May 2022: I periodically get messages from folks asking about availability for clutch work. I wanted to let you know, if you do see this message during your time browsing the forum, that he unfortunately is no longer offering this service. He doesn't have much time/interest these days to take on the extra mechanic work between his day job and spending time wrenching on his own car.

I can highly recommend his Friend. Did my Clutch when my TOB shit the bed. No issues and he was very friendly. Plus he came to my house! Can't beat that.
