Congrats on the new Golf R! I'm sure having torque every where feels nice. How does the top end pull feel compared to your JRSC FR-S?

Post up some pics if you get a chance. :-)

The torque i much better with the R, even at stock when comparing to a JRSC with E85. I will also say that the FT86 and Golf R are very different cars and its not just because of cost. The FT-86 is much more balance and it is an extremely fun car. You can achieve a lot of the fun with low speed. I needed a back seat at the end of the day and a car that is a bit more refine. Hence me stepping away from the FRS.

U know what... i wish I could, but honestly.. Stock for stock, "R" will take it, but thaz not a fair comparison for they are two different price range vehicles.

Now - Modded FRS vs. Stock R, that would be an interesting run. U know what my modded was, and I will say that the "R" will still take it by a hair.

But with both cars tuned. I dont think its a contest that the "R" will take it...

thaz just my 2cents..

The R has more torque, but the BRZ would pull, modded vs modded. The lack of torque makes the BRZ feel slower than it is...

It's like a CBA GTR feeling much faster than the 991 GT3, and most people would agree the GTR will pull, but the GT3 will walk the GTR no problem.

Mike, very well said.

I guess in time we will see which car will have faster 1/4miles runs. Give the R a look, cause the AWD torque off the line is very good b4 and after mod.

But your statements are very true. But I guess it back to the age old question of HP vs TQ...

HP vs Tq.

Big rig vs F1 car. I think you know which one is faster...

I had a VW R32 MKIV for a little while. I wish I would have just kept it instead of selling it for the BRZ and kept both cars. Nothing like a first gen R32 and that wonderful exhaust sound.

Now... Now... Now.... Ur taking that a bit far. R is no big rig by far and FRS is far from being a F1 car. Each vehicle has its own positive driving dynamics for sure. With that being said, its a tough call unless we can put the two car next to each other and give it a go.

Extreme example, but you get my point :p

For something more realistic, how about a S2000 vs Golf TDI?

Their torque/hp figures are almost perfectly opposite. 151lb/ft 240hp vs 236lb/ft 150hp. The golf is unfortunately about 200 lbs heavier, but lets say the S2000 has a 200lb passenger.

Which would be faster?

In addition. The car u compare against has to have the same purpose.

TDI was not with speed in mind. s2000 was.

With modern engines, horsepower will always outpace torque, if it's meant for a "speed" application...

Your Golf R, 3340lbs, 292hp, vs your E85 JRSC FRS, 2800 lbs, ~3xxwhp.

You don't REALLY believe the Golf R has a chance, do you? Unless you're launching from a dead stop, that AWD and low end torque means nothing in a drag race at these output levels.

Paging @AlexBinJackson. How do you think your boosted R32 would do against your boosted FRS?
