Back in 86 a Mustang GT could be had for around $12,000 in Canada. My 86 AE86 GT-S cost $16,500.

That's kind of the way the cookie crumbles, even 30 years later.

Yeah, this $27,500 pricing can't be right. Absolutely not, who the hell would buy the Scion when you can get much better options out there for 3-4K less? Let ALONE the fact you can buy a Lexus IS for $22-25k, or a BMW 3 series.

I won't be buying a Scion if it's over 25k

Just called and canceled my preorder. Now that Canada is getting the Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-spec I'll probably buy that.

Um, have you see the new GC? It's ugly as hell.

For the estimates going to near 32-35K, if that's it, you can get a base STi for $37 starting.

Might aswell fork in the extra cash for a 370 or sti.

...why do you guys keep doing this?
no matter what, each person has it's own limits in terms of spending and yet you guys try to justify the purchase of something more expensive, yet alone suggesting one so. If that's the case, why would you even consider a lesser expensive vehicle in the first place? To be honest, if everyone's focus is shifted towards their value for what they get then this car definitely wouldn't justify your needs. You KNEW from the start this vehicle was made to bring that FUN factor into driving, nothing more.

Ugly? Granted, a 370 is a pretty sharp looking car, but the STI is horrible looking. Its a clown car compared to a Genesis.

Base STI and 370 are both about $40K. A cheaper 3.8 GT Genesis is fully loaded. Option out an STI or 370 with the same options as a Genesis and you are looking at $45-50K, $10-15K more then a Genesis. If Im spending $50K on a car, it aint gonna be either. Thats 135i or Boss 302 Mustang money.

It's also about understanding the value of the car. If they think they can fuck us in the ass by $4k over what is sensible because of 'fun' and hype, well too bad for sales in Canada...

Dealers don't really want this car, I think. They won't care if it doesn't sell.

What blows me away is that the Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-spec will only be $1400 more than the same car in the USA. I genuinely admire what Hyundai is doing in Canada. The Japanese automakers rip us off worse than even the German car companies.

Canada: 2013 Gen coupe 2.0T 6 speed manual R Spec - 28,799
USA: 2013 Gen coupe 2.0T 6 speed manual R Spec - 27,375

I expect the FRS/BRZ to be at least $4000 more than the US versions which made me cancel my pre-order yesterday.

you have no idea what it's actually going to cost, make up a ridiculously large number, and cancel a pre-order that you would get back for free anyway.

If Scion sticks to how they've been pricing already, it should be within a similar amount of the GenCoupe to the US version. But it's going to depend on what the US version costs.
