I don't see that ever happening, sorry. We are a very small company. We will have our hands full for the next few years just fleshing out the 6UL product line.

Since these wheels will be priced close to the RPF1, can you comment on the durability of the 6UL wheel with respect to the RPF1?

In practice, the RPF1 appears to be a very durable design. Almost no reports of premature failures. The few we have seem deform from abuse had bent center discs but the barrels were still round. Meaning the entire barrel kept its shapes but was no longer centered on the hub. This type of deformation would be the expected final failure mode of this design. The few broken or cracked RPF1's I have seen seemed to have failed from abuse or a crash, not any design issue. The bent ones were all just dropping a wheel of a race track or hitting a track kerb too hard. Almost every bent one had a round barrel, just sorta clown wheel in relation to the hub, like a socket on a wobble drive ratchet extension. The 6UL has also proven to be highly durable design. Over 25,000 in use, most of which get raced or driven on race tires at some point. We had reports of a few wheels with cracked spokes on certain 15" sizes back in 2011 so we added some material to strengthen the wheel and recertified them with VIA. Other than that, the 6UL has proven to be extremely robust. The 6UL provides better brake clearance, has a super strong disc, costs about the same but weighs a bit more. That extra weight is our chosen compromise. We know that 1lb will never be felt by the driver or on a lap timer. Of course, some drivers see that 1lb and base their entire decision on it. So, couldn't tell you which is stronger. My guess would be with the same abuse, the RPF1 would bend its center and the 6UL would bend its rim. |

I almost wept at that reply. Even though I have 2 sets of RPF1s I am tempted to order a set (17x8) just repay 949 Racing for that response.

@949 Racing, thanks for that informative post. Looking forward to seeing what the offset will be for the 17x9 5x114. It'll be for the MY15 WRX. Hoping it'll be +45 or greater (more positive).

There's a pretty big gap between the MSRP on RPF1s and the actual market price, which is under $1000 for a set. Hopefully price and offset will be comparable.
