MAF Sensor cleaning
My FR-S is nearing 60k and the idle is a little rough at times. Decided it's time to clean the MAF sensor and reset the ECU. Picked up this stuff (there's really only a couple different brands that offer MAF cleaner). Has anyone else done this with any positive results? Thanks

I'd never done it in 11 years, so I figured I'd try it.
Made no difference. Saw some people also get a throttle body cleaner ... I intend on doing. ... When I'm not feeling like a lazy mut.

It can only help if the MAF sensor really was dirty. The only reason I can think would be from oil coming off of one of those reusable elements.

Have you changed your spark plugs? iirc, they're due to a change at 60k. Unless you are using an overly oiled air filter, my guess is your idle hiccups are from the plugs.

I use CRC MAF Cleaner. I don't have any specific issues, and haven't run into any issues (with the car or the product). Just part of regular maintenance every other oil change since I have an oiled filter
130k miles on ODO. Spark plugs every 60k miles, got "new" old coil packs at 120k |

I’ve always run oiled K&N drop-in filters since 1988 and periodic (annual) sensor cleansing has been part of my maintenance routine. ![]()

I need to clean the MAF sensor at least once per season with using an HKS mushroom intake. At some point it has sucked in some oil and it took me a while to discover that a dirty MAF was THE reason my car wasn't running as it should. It is best to remove the intake section with the sensor and spray it really good outdoors in a well ventilated area.

I also found my car to be smoother with a newer battery .. but that was when the batteries were on their last leg (+5 years of use)

I haven't yet. I know they are due at 60k but some say they should be good for 120k. Thanks!

Its called High flow performance air filter. Worth the extra 3HP. I would rather replace pcv than touch any electrical stuff
