Chargers are land yachts. The only sporty thing about them are the commercials. It may be a muscle car; it'll never be a sports car.

Gah, a shitty dealer experience can ruin just about everything. When I took my fiancee (then girlfriend) to the dealership, the 6' 3" tall salesman jumped in the back seat before we could offer him the front. He was such a great guy, I made sure to explicitly ask for him when I went back to buy.

I think one thing you'll need to consider is that to REALLY enjoy the FR-S/BRZ, it needs to be driven above 7/10th's. It doesn't really come alive until you barn storm a curvy back road or spend a day at a track or autocross. If you live for the driving experience, the '86 is the car to have. If your idea of fun is just squirting around town, the extra grunt and usability of the Gennie might make it a better choice.

Like all sports car purchases, this is an emotional decision, let your heart decide.

She's a jeans kind of gal though, so she doesn't have to deal with getting in and out of my car with a dress on (except for the occasional event that requires it).

We also throw our 10 year old daughter in the seat behind her, no complaints from either.

The Gen Coupe is like an SUV when I sit in it compared to the BRZ, even on the lowest seat setting, but its a GT, not a little sports car.

Lol throw your 10 year old daughter. Thats not cool

OK, everyone needs to knock off the "old guys getting in and out of the car" talk! I resemble that remark....

Mid 50's, 5' 7" around 200lbs (give or take 20lbs any given quarter). I have no issues getting in and out of the car. I pretty much use the method described by @Chazbo above.

Oh, and I get into and out of it in the garage every day in this amount of space..

So, @spicyricecake I guess ask her if she thinks she could get in and out of any car that a 50+ year old bald dude with a bad knee from a motorcycle accident 20 years ago can, and you should have your answer.

My BRZ is not my DD, but I do have 2 Kids and they will go in the back seat just because they think the car is cool to be in. The girlfriend doesn't care what vehicle we take. However, she does complain about the ride of the car when she's in it. I do get yelled at for whipping around corners when it's just her and I in the car. So when I want to take the car and she doesn't, I just say that she can take her car and I will take mine. It doesn't make sense, but I love to drive this little thing. That's all that matters to me.

Personally, I love the car, but if I had to do it again, I would've waited a few more months to save up to have a lower monthly payment and then I would be in a better position to get a second car now that I have a baby, especially now that we're entering the winter. If you're anticipating kids within 5 years, either make sure you guys can afford 2 cars because having the BRZ as the only family car is only going to cause problems if your gf/future wife is complaining already and you haven't even bought the car yet. It makes pregnancy less than fun.

Yeah it can be a pain in the ass to get out off especially if you're parked up a driveway. Luckily the driver has the streering wheel to hold on while getting out. The passenger has nothing. My gf always has a hard time.

she has a car of her own that's already paid off, and will get a new one in 2 years or so... I highly doubt Ill be able to get a 2nd car while still owning the BRZ if you're speaking of myself having 2 cars though hah!

This! lots of squats will help her get in and out of the car.

Honestly i've only had problems with Marla getting in and out of my car when she's very very drunk (which happens all the time). But a bonus is that when she sitting in the car her mouth is at the right level for, well you know what and if she falls forward into the car wearing a skirt, she's in a very vulnerable position.

and getting out i'll act all gentlemenlike and open the passenger door and pull her out getting a real nice shot at the pink taco while handing her a cigarette.

I actually just traded in my AUDI A4 (all wheel drive, roomy, great for snow, good sized trunk and back seats) for the BRZ as my daily driver.

Since you are considering your significant other, I thought I would throw in my two cents. I actually picked the BRZ with the mindset of "what is the most impractical purchase I can make" since I know I will be married in the next 1.5 years. I figure at that time, priorities will have to change in terms of everything being more family oriented, so I thought I would pull the trigger on the BRZ now while I had the chance

Loving the car so far. Will need to get service department to fix the speaker/window button rattles at 3,000 miles.
