Well if you seem to think youre worth more than you used to be then I'm sure it's for specific reasons.

Whatever those reasons are is all you have to communicate to the boss man and if they can see where you're coming from it should go well.

If you're sorta socially akward the boss probably already knows that and will accept your attempt even if it does lack a little tact.

I have to do performance reviews and assign raises to 12 engineers every year. When the question comes up "and what did you do for the company last year?" I can pretty much guess the responses from each of them simply based on their social skills (Or lack there of. They ARE engineers after all).
I can also always tell the ones that did their prep for the meeting even if they were a bit timid in presenting the info.

Thanks for the tips guys! I will try to build some courage and take some advice. I currently work in a parts department doing the shipping and receiving at 13/hr. I am the only guy back here and its quite stressful at times having like 10 people give me orders and they alllll need to go out today because they promised the customer that..

Originally when i was hired there was a 70 year old guy back here screwing everytjing up and working very slowly. I was making nearly 17 an hour working on cars but i was tired of working 10 to 11 hour days 6 days a week and the management there was always treating me like shit.

I assume the most i can get is a dollar raise but hopefully i can get something because i took a large cut in pay switching jobs when i did that and my spending habbits havent quite yet adjusted to it..
