OK all of you that are more knowledgeable than I am but maybe not as OCD: What can be the purpose of the seam at the top side edge of the grille. It's not symmetrical and is only on one side. There's also one on the BRZ. I thought it might be a cover for the tie down hook but it seems too high a location.

It's definitely the tow hook location, same as on the previous gen, and about the same location. Keep in mind the front bumper is now lower at after its stretched out look. Previous gen BRZ, for example, had it right on the mustache.

Man that 86 looks very F type and European looking, I love it. I plan to hold on to 1st gen and get 2nd gen.

Yup. You can see the panel line continues down into the black grill on the 86 forming a sort of trapezoidal shape.

there was a guy that bought a '13, and had it pulled apart and repainted yellow, iirc, he finished about in '15. and then in '16, they made a yellow version of the car..

but i understood and was jealous of his capabilities. this car, with either gen, looks good in yellow!

I wonder if you'll be able to just swap the BRZ headlight assemblies into the 86. I like the wrap-around LEDs better than just the underline.

Probably, but it's going to cost you - these full-LED assemblies typically run over a grand apiece.

Would be cheaper to buy the BRZ and get a Toyota bumper I think. You can probably get one and paint it for ~1000.

These will be more than that. They have the directional angle units that will be a part of the housing. The ones on my wife's Impreza were about $2200 each!

Yeah. The adaptive headlights on my wife's BMW are $1700 each, I think. Too much for a cosmetic mod, that's for sure.

Oh no, it will be pretty hard to carefully drill a circle in such a tow hook bumper cover to just have the tow hook permanently on, like on my profile pic.
