Anyone in the 3rd season of Diablo 3? I'm about 75% done with my Roland's Shield Bash crusader, so many large numbers

Anyone feel comfortable scrutinizing my build list? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger, but I want to make sure I'm not bottle-necking myself somewhere. Build is for some gaming but mostly 3D design/heavy rendering/future proofing.

List:
Case: Thermaltake Core x9
MB: Gigabyte GA-X99-SOC Champion
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3GHz
GPU: 2X EVGA GTX 970 3975Mhz running in SLI
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850
RAM: Cosair Vengeance LPX 16GB 4 x 4GB DDR4 2666
SSD: 2X Corsair Neutron 240GB SATA III MLC running in Raid 0
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200 RPM
Cooling: EKWB Waterblocks for GPU & CPU. Custom LC all throughout.

With the LC system I'm hoping to OC up to 3.8-4GHz

...Anyway, any of you guys have anything you would add or change? Much appreciated!

@Jesse36m3 Your build is wicked! Any ideas?

It's really a tough time to be buying top end hardware because we're in a transitional stage (Gen 4 to Gen 5 Intel CPUs).

You have a brutal machine spec'd out there. Still that's a lot of extra money for top end equipment that won't net the performance that you're paying for. Stepping up to X99 and DDR4 doesn't pay off today over a top end gen 4 equipment. In a year or two when games have started to really use this hardware yes definitely, but then X99 and 5th gen hardware costs will have come down significantly.

This is a quagmire caused by the market. Tough choice if you're shopping for top end specs.

I do a lot on Iracing, but I'm more into oval racing. Ive been using a G27 for about a year and a half now and added some Fanatic CSP's and 3 24" screens in the last few months. Make sure to find good settings for the G27 specific to the sim you are running. I havent tried Assetto Corsa, but having the right settings can make all the difference in how the wheel feels, and how fast you are.

You make a great point, and it's something I've for sure been wrestling with. The thing is, I don't mind paying more for x99 now as long as I can upgrade it again in the upcoming years... I've been Frankensteining my system for the last 8 years, and it is finally completely obsolete. So if I go with a high end board with an older socket then in 3 years I won't be able to improve on it. Whereas running x99 now can get me a lot further in future proofing.

I figure I can run Haswell-E (Gen 4) now and later down the road, I should be able to find Broadwell (Gen 5) in LGA 2011-v3; and my 2-way GTX 970 SLI will carry me through the 4k transition.

Geeze season 3 just started...already 4 pieces !! ?

I finished season 2 with Rolands... which is all that I had. I glad I kept it after the patch rolled out. I managed to squeeze in a Blackthorns set with RORG. But I was still too squoosy ( if that is even a word !)

Starting season 3 as a Barb.

And yes the new Rolands is OP... Best part is that you can use any ancient weapon with it... my good luck was I had a decent 4300+ dmg ancient in storage

Yep, you're going to have to play the very long game to get value out of X99 system built today. It's not a bad idea. BTW what is your display setup going to look like?

Played the long game with my last setup, and it was totally worth it. A few upgrades here and there and the beast just kept trucking along.

I'm running 32" screens both at home and work and I really can't see myself going smaller. I'd like to run a 4k 32" in the middle with 1080's on each side. But realistically just one 4k 32" would be just fine in my book with my current screen to the side for background apps.

Yea 4 pieces so far, 100 mil crits, so niiiice.

The week before season 3 started I got on my regular crusader and got pretty much perfect gear, trifecta focus + restraint, 6 piece rolands, drakon bracers, 3800 dps furnace... was critting for over 2 billion on elites. Then he died. Damn you hardcore!

So now this season I want to replicate that guy. Still a loooong ways to go lol

If youre interested in playing let me get your battletag, I play hardcore but if you need anything I may be able to help.

I'm not much into AOE type games but I did participate in the beta stages for AOE-online and actually enjoyed it. I played from the early closed betas all the way through to release.

Once it went live, I didn't like the model they used, too expensive to be able to progress very far. I was sorry to see MS shut it down though as I thought it was a decent game for the genre.
