I could just do the same with the Sig MPX though...
And I still have an obsession with the Beretta CX4 Storm. lol
Yeah this is my issue. $3,000 for the gun. Add $1,000 for an aimpoint and mount. Another few hundred for a light/tape switch. Another $1,000 ish for a suppressor. I'm in nearly $5,000 at that point, plus another like $50 for every mag I want.

$5,000 for a SEMI AUTO ONLY sub gun shooting 9mm is just hard for me to justify, personally.

Now... if we could get full auto, I'd be on board. Maybe the NFA/ATF will be repealed and abolished some day...but I doubt it, given the current culture.

I suppose I can ask this here...

Is it bad that I want a PS90 simply because it looks rad?

I'm normally not one for full auto, but damn if I could at least get burst life would be complete. Also yeah the set up you mentioned is what I was thinking too. I want the Aimpoint Comp, authentic/ replica collapsible MP5 stock, at least 3 30rnd mags because Auf Wiedersehn to the intruder, and a suppressor would be pretty cool. Also ATF tax because all my hobbies are shunned upon.

While I don't own any MP5 variants (I regret not buying a HK94 back in the day when they were $450), I've had the opportunity to shoot a few different models, and the SD has got to be my favorite. Full auto is fun for sure, but I really liked the 2-round burst better than 3-round burst. Strange as it may seem, 3-round burst takes 'too long' even if it's a fraction of a second. I noticed this when doing some fun target transition drills and you want to move to the next target as fast as possible. 2-round burst is great as it's basically the perfect double-tap, and super fun doing an El Presidente drill with. Reloading is of course slower with an MP5 than with a handgun, but the fun factor makes up for it.

I can't really comment on burst fire. When I was in, we rarely used anything but semi-auto. Except for the SAW or 240 Bravo. But something like shooting a blowback 9mm just seems so cool. The longer it lasts, the better

Agreed!
Hey, I did get a chance to shoot some M249 and M240 variants including the Mk46 and Mk48. I fell in love with the Mk46. The Mk48 was just too much of a beast for me to handle. I'm left-handed, and when firing offhand (well, trying to), my right forearm got beat up by the violently-ejected hot cases and links.

I despise everything there is the know about the M249. It should literally be illegal for use in the Army. Now the 240, is glorious. Never got to play with the Mk46/48 though :/

I would not use as full auto, but the ability to control bursts is nice. Instead of being locked into 3rd burst, you can control to 5, 7 etc.

And the MP5 has such a soft recoil impulse compared to an M4 (especially when suppressed) that it's MUCH easier to shoot effectively.

No. Fun gun. If ammo were less expensive and easier to get I would shoot mine much more often.

Do it! I have so many regrets about not buying certain firearms when they were available because I thought they'd always be available, and not go up in price much. Boy, was I wrong.

Just curious - I grew up fascinated by the MP5 because I was influenced as a young teen seeing the SAS storm the Iranian Embassy, and of course the movie Die Hard; but I'm wondering what you younger guys (I'm making an assumption) experienced that makes you want one. I mean, it's a pretty old design, and back then there weren't all the different pistol caliber carbines or semi-auto versions of sub guns that we have nowadays.

Does the MP5 still hold its legendary status with the younger generation as it does with us older guys, or...? And why? Just the love of classic and cool designs?

I mean, as far as ergonomics go, the HK series of weapons can't beat an AR platform in speed and manipulation, but for me, they're still very cool even though they're a bit outdated. I still have a HK93 which is no where as easy to shoot as an AR, but I still like having one. It also draws way more attention than an AR, and I'm sometimes surprised by that.

Lots of influences, from movies to video games, but the main reason is the mechanics behind how it functions. I really enjoy learning about firearms design. Up on that list too is the Steyr GB pistol

Understood, and same here. I regret not picking up a Bren Ten 10mm in the mid 80's because I wanted a 1911. Which of those two are more common now?
