The shape would not be difficult to recreate but the material it's made of needs to have certain elastomeric properties that may not be available for use in a 3D printer. That, and how expensive is the OEM part?

The problem is there is no OEM part. Toyota/Subaru only sell it as a complete unit and it’s like $1400. If all that is wrong is this rubber part then I think there is a market for someone to reproduce it. I just got the Hyundai bushing in today. It was $6.50 with free overnight on amazon. Hopefully I find the time and motivation to take a stab at installing it this weekend.

Reminds me of similar "saving" with one gearbox bearing that comes only pressed in $1.4k casing. Luckily nissan & mazda unlike toyobaru, sold it separately.

Hmm. This unit is used in a few other Toyota’s like the Lexus C200h and some Corollas. Maybe they sell the part separately on some of those models. I will check in that later. My guess is they don’t though.

errmax: but one can grow donor car model list for used parts from breakeryards/totaled car partouts, even if they don't sell separately for those too.

You have a link to the part you ordered? I would like to give that a shot myself.

Okay I cut the little round nubs on each side of the Hyundai bushing. It was still a little bit tight but the two halves bolt up fine. @ermax I hope you can install yours this weekend

Did this fix the clunking? I ordered two of these for myself just now. Hoping this is the solution we've all been looking for.

He picked up a use EPS and swapped it in a few weeks ago which freed up his original to find an actual fix. He said he is busy on other projects and doesn’t have to time to put his possibly fixed unit back in.

I’m going to give it a go this weekend though. I stuck my head under the dash on the way out to work yesterday and it looks like there is a very slim possibility of removing this thing with a crows foot and avoid taking the whole column apart. So I’m going to try that route first but either way I’m going to get this Hyundai coupler installed and I will share my findings as soon as possible.

Electric Power Steering (EPS) noisy

@HRTROB, do you thing there is any chance of simply removing the plastic part right under the column by your knees and then unbolt those two main bolts and then the bolt by the brake switch and then lower the whole thing enough to get the the motor? I’m just looking under here and trying to think of the easiest way to do this without removing stuff I don’t need to. I’m tempted to start pulling it apart tonight but don’t really want to be up all night working on it either.

What are your thoughts?

I was hoping I could get a crows foot on the two bolts holding the motor on and access it without taking everything apart but I can’t even get it on the bolts because there isn’t enough clearance between the bolt and the case of the motor.

Okay it’s not that easy. I’m just going to follow your cliff notes. Right now I need to research how to get this cluster bezel off. I had working on interior crap. It’s so easy to mess it all up and end up with a rattle box.

Thanks bud, I went back read all that after I posted and saw what was going. I'm definitely in it for the win with you guys. Hoping this is something I will be able to handle. Seems like I should be able to though. I might go the opposite route he did though and buy a used one, rebuild with new bushing and then swap them so I'm not out my daily driver. I think I could swap them in a day. Then I will rebuild my original and try to sell and recoup some money
