Air blowing out of vents with AC/fan off???

Any of you have this problem? I don't know if this is simply a refinement issue (or lack thereof) that comes with owning a Toyota, but what the hell? My fan speed is set to zero, yet at highway speeds (and any speeds actually, but the rate of air blowing out is definitely proportional to speed) the vents will blow at pretty much a "1" fan level. Whatever I have the temperature set to, is what will come out. It's really annoying cause if I direct it at the windshield, it'll start fogging up. If it's at me, then I'm getting unwelcome exhaust gases from the outside. Seemingly the only way to prevent it from happening is to push the "circulate air inside the cabin" button, but does that use any power with the other two knobs off? I'm not sure if this is normal or experienced in any other cars, but I've never seen it before, and it's a stupid ass problem to have.

Yes - they use outside air if not on recirculate. Fan should not be on. Windows closed should reduce it some or put it on recirc or close the vents. I have never had a car that did not do this.

Change the setting to blow at your feet and you won't notice it anymore

Push the recirc button and it won't blow air.

Every car I've ever had still allowed some air to pass through the vents, even with the system completely off. This is totally normal.

Switch to the foot vents, or simply shut the top vents manually if it is bothering you that bad.

Perfectly normal.
The air conditioner is activated always (AS IN WINTER) when the defog is selected.
Also normal. Or should I say abnormal ?

Yes it's normal. The outside air intake is in a high pressure zone when your driving, so air is beeing forced inside, even with the fan not running.
On my previous car (acura RSX), it was like twice as much air as the BRZ. I would basically drive half the time with the fan off, because the air getting inside was sufficient.

Putting it in recirc would solve this, but it's not a bad thing to have a bit of fresh air getting inside. Without fresh air, on long drive, the CO2 level will rise, and can cause headhache and get you tired.

Set the HVAC control to dash vents-only, and simply shut the vents.
