My brembos on bleeders on the front and back side. Do I need to swap both? Or just the front facing ones?

for everyone else having issues, i just took the bleed screws out and replaced them with a another cone-head allen bolt same as the opposite side.

got my power bleeder and bled the calipers holding it in my hand. tighten the allen bolt when no more air bubbles are coming out. it gets a little messy without the bleed screw nipple but its a lot easier than blow torching my calipers and messing with screws.

If I manage to remove the hex bolts without stripping, is it safe to re-use them on the other end of caliper? I'll be getting new speed bleeders anyway on the correct end (instead of re-using stock bleeders) so just deciding if I should buy 4 or 8 speed bleeders...

2004-2007 STI Brembo calipers are all the same. 2008-2014 are also the same, just a different color. 2004 STI Brembo front and rear rotors are different due to 5x100 bolt pattern.

Almost. 08+ STI Brembo rear calipers are slightly different. To do a Brembo swap on our cars, 04-07 Brembo rears will need a bracket. 08+ Brembo rears will not.

And to clear any potential confusion, the 04 STI rear rotors will not fit our cars (nor 05-07 STI rear rotors even if you drill them for 5x100.) You need to get 08+ STI rear rotors with a 5x100 bolt pattern (either dual-drilled, or custom).

Any 04 front rotors should fit because of the pattern or get dual drill .... i know that in another thread someone posted the DBA dual drill number.

Brake lines, you can use the ones made for the FRS/BRZ.

I dont think the calipers depend on the year, as many stated the front caliper is the same.

I am looking for a 08+ FR but the ones Ive found are really expensive.

On that point what's the best way to tell if they should be rebuilt without putting them on the car? The ones ive got here seem fine but I'd rather be build first if required...

This was in the other STI Brembo thread, but I'll put the info here too just in case.

Easiest Brembo Swap:

2008+ STI Brembos
2004 STI front rotors
2008+ STI rear rotors drilled for 5x100 lug pattern
2004+ STI brake pads

Not as easy:

2004-2007 STI Brembos
Rear adapter brackets
2004+ STI front rotors (05+ will need to be drilled for 5x100)
2008+ STI rear rotors drilled for 5x100 lug pattern
2004+ STI brake pads

Notes:

You will have to swap the bleeders on the front calipers in order to install them *correctly*. They will go on upside down, but you will get uneven pad wear which could damage the caliper.

The rear dust shields on your car will need to be removed. They are relatively easy to cut away.

The front dust shields just need to be bent away slightly so they don't rub the rotors.

Even using 2011 rear calipers, we found that a set of washers was needed to center them on the rotor. The difference was maybe 1-2 mm, so it was more of a perfectionist decision than a real issue.

Where to get the rear rotors? There are DBA part numbers in a few of these threads that are dual-drilled. I got a custom set from Adam's Rotors, and I highly recommend at least giving them a look. They have a great price and TONS of customization options.

I would check the dust boots for cracking and corrosion on the pistons. If you find cracks, or there's a lot of corrosion, I'd get them rebuilt.

If they still have fluid in them, pour some out (clean up any spilled on the paint immediately) and check the color. If it's brown, opaque, or chunky, they were driven hard and could probably use some TLC.
