Just played through the PC Halo 2 remastered. It was fun to play again but there were some optimization issues

That's about as loserish as things get, if I'm being honest.

How much money do you make per year with these sweet skills you have now?

I don't think so. I didn't know its a thing, but its no different then taking lessons from any other "expert" for your hobby. Some examples:

* Hiring a driving instructor
* Hiring a physical trainer
* Hiring a Tennis coach
etc..

these are all folks you wouldn't think twice about if someone hired, why would a gaming coach be any different? Heck, I wouldn't mind a few tips myself so that I'm not always the last on the scoreboard with my sons.

Because generally there's zero return on a gaming coach. So what, you can flex in some public lobbies on your friends, outside of that, nothing.

Driving instructor has real world, tangible benefits outside of becoming better. You can be a safer driver on the road. Physical training in general, or in a specific discipline is also the same, there are other tangible real world benefits to it.

Just pretty blown away that there are people willing to toss money to a video game coach just to beat their friends.

I disagree it is zero return but I see where it would be a polarizing concept.

By your thought, there is zero real world benefit to hiring a music instructor if you never play in public. People do it because they like improving their skills just for themselves. To me, its the same. YMMV

And by his own admission hes not doing it for himself. He did it to beat his friends.

I know my friends would have a lot to say if I spent money on a coach to beat them in video games, and none of it would be praise.

If you want to improve something for yourself, then by all means go for it, but if the only reason you're doing it is to impress people, that's pretty lame in my opinion.
