Except... There are some "enthusiasts" that do things that I can not say ANYTHING nice about. He removed the fenders to get more camber??? There is no other way I can describe this but, STUPID! Example: https://jalopnik.com/this-scion-fr-s...ere-1828664969

effort shows. rice is hack. i respect a lot of low rider builds, not because the cars, the concepts, or the colors/murals interest me, but because the infinite detail the guys put into the builds.
i can respect a carefully put together lambo-doored civic. i will call a $60k corvette with chrome decals and pep boys led strips rice.

I see rice as low budget, tasteless mods often not executed very well. Chrome door edge trim makes me shudder. This actually made me think of a local who took it to the extreme. If you google "Ottawa Honda accord" it's the second photo in images, and you get linked to various stages of the car. |

A few of them are absolute douchebags; really, really arrogant to the point of talking down to others for expressing their opinion (on completely different subject matter entirely, mind you) and calling them poor idiots. Congratulations on having that much disposable income to throw at a BRZ, but your car's still just as slow as the stock FR-S right next to it. |

Maybe we should call some of the "riced out" cars - "car art" -

white rice , brown rice ...
I usually like white jdm cars/ trucks , but my first was a metallic brown '79 Celica GT. Brown rice is more nutritious then white.

GT Wings almost always, non functional hood scoops always, and basically any roof scoop on any car = 100% pure old fashioned rice. Other body changes, like body ground kits, are kinda grey area because it could just be a personal taste of cosmetics. If mixed with the aforementioned wing and scoops, then yes, its a riced car, imo. However, a lot of body kits are there purely for cosmetics. Whether or not you're a fan of the style, doesn't make it rice, it just means it doesn't suit you.
Exhaust, wheels, and lowered suspension, are not rice. |

Pretty much why I'm hesitant to add hood vents to my car. I'm not liking the verus ones and the CF one I would have to paint match (not a fan of the raw CF hood unless it's subtle/blending like on a black car). Kind of need them since I'm FI and temps are a bit high, but I don't want that instagram clout.
