Toyota already has the gr yaris and gr corolla. They don't need subaru to build a segment leading hot hatch.

Also that grill kinda looks like it was stolen from a mustang or a focus RS lol

I am all for collabs if it keeps us getting solid enthusiast cars. The writing is on the wall. ICE is dead and its coming really soon. It will happen in our generation. Lets enjoy cars as we know them for as long as possible. Don't get me wrong I will embrace EVs just not without missing manuals, exhaust notes and light weight fun cars...

If you have a decent amount of mechanical acumen you can keep most ICE sports cars going as long as you want. And there will always be shops to take care of the more complex items.

Definitely my plan.

Kind of depends on how difficult it is to buy gasoline though right? If you have to order 400+ dollar drums ($8/gallon) of butanol or toluene to fill your car, that's going to be a PITA.

Make it a proper 3 door hatch (like the GR Yaris) and I’d rock one. So sick of boring and ugly 5 door hatches. A proper hot hatch should be a 3 door for sportier styling.

I agree, much as I like seeing new performance cars, it makes no sense from Toyota’s perspective. Why do they need yet another hot hatch when they already have the GR Yaris and (likely) GR Corolla as you say? Very unlikely. If anything, I’d expect them to focus on a hotter SUV - that’s where the real market share is, sadly.

FWIW, last week I got a market research questionnaire from Subaru, ostensibly asking about my ownership experiences with my 2019 BRZ. There were a number of questions asking about my interests for my next car purchase, and several of those questions asked about interest in a hatchback.

So, they're at least thinking about it. With Toyota having increased their ownership stake in Subaru to 20%, and officially making Subaru part of the 'Toyota Motor Group', it's understandable that there will be more ties between the companies on models going forward.

Why don’t Subaru just bring back the WRX hatchback? Why do they need a whole new model? Most folk just want the option of getting the Rex in a hatchback form again. The sedan only form of the current gen turned some folks off.
