Guys: cars with options aren't base models, otherwise anything that isn't a release series is a base model because Scion doesn't have different trims on their cars period. Even a full up TRD package costing $40k out the door can be called a 'base model' by a twisted individual.

Yes, it was like pulling teeth but my car was $25,3xx (there was a price increase from $24.9k January 1st 2013) with zero options or add-ons, plus dealer fee, tax, title, license, turned out to be around $28.3k. I bought in January 2013.

And I am so fucking glad I don't have a touch screen head unit, '13 ftw.

Yup.
Bought a '14 off-the-lot when the '15s came out last Fall.
It came with a spoiler and a carpeted trunk mat.
$23,900

It was $24,995 if I remember correctly but did anyone actually get one for that price?
I bought mine in August 2012 and it had an $845 BeSpoke head unit I didn't ask for or want. I couldn't get a car without any add-ons though.
The dealer I bought my car from actually told me I would be getting a car with window tint and some of the paint protection film but I got a stereo instead.
I checked the price difference and it turned out to be about the same so I never complained about the difference but I always wondered, are there any real base model owners out there in the U.S.A?
Why didn't you just go to a dealership that wouldn't push you around?

Dealerships don't make sense to me. Cars are the most expensive thing a person owns after their house, and yet dealerships treat people like they're herding cattle. Spend $25k in a jewelry store and they'll practically give you a free handy, spend $25k at a dealership and they'll spit in your face and tell you to go fuck yourself.

Do you have the address of this jewelry store?

My 1.0 Series six-speed did not have any additional cost 'options.' For example, no Bespoke. In fact it was actually below list price with a $250 'internet discount.'

There's your answer. In Summer 2012 it was a seller's market.

I took what I could get at the time. I paid sticker price at a dealer 20 miles away while the dealers in Tampa were charging $3k over for adjusted market price. Also the dealer I bought it from does not charge any dealer fee.

The reason I posted this question is even now I see new FR-S at the dealers they have stripes TRD wheels all kinds of add on BS that could be bought for 25% of what the dealers charge for them. I don't understand how they can still get away with these ridiculous markups on accessories when the supply of cars is so plentiful.

You can pay 50k for a car, but if you paid below invoice should dealership kiss your ass and give you free stuff on top of that ?

Be ready to walk away and throw the last 2+ hours of your time out the door when you get to that point.

It's a game of chicken, I decided not to play and just eat the ~$100 they ended up conning me out of. I figure I paid it off early and saved more than a few hundred bucks there so I've got that going for me. Plus I had been trying to buy the car for 4 months at that point, I just wanted the process over with.
