GT wing + Stock trunk

Stupid question:

I know people run aftermarket GT wings with Carbon Fiber trunks.

Would there be rigidity issues running a voltex type 2 wing on a stock oem trunk?

Would the extra downforce cause the trunk to start pulling/bending?

thanks everyone

Yes. I have a smallish GTC200 and it flexes the trunk lid a lot. I believe the Voltex does come with a brace to make it better.

I know other platforms who run aggressive track wings keep their trunks. But its really common for our platform to swap.

Thanks dude

I just picked up a Voltex Type 2 a few weeks back. It mounts to the outer edge of the trunk, as opposed to center-mounted, and I don't think will deform the trunk much, if at all. Lots of people run have been running this wing, maybe a long time user can chime in.

I think the wings that mount to the outer edge fair a lot better. For some reason I thought the type 2 mounted to the center.

You're not mistaken! There is a center mounted type 2 according to their catalog, but I think it's spec'd for other cars.

I think there is a swan neck option I am thinking of that is center mounted from them. It was on the Speed Academy car.

Yes, but most people just "live with it".

Oh yeah, that's got like a clamshell for the underside of the trunk.
