Still shifts like it did naturally aspirated but since the revs climb much faster now in the lower gears, I do need to account for shift delay by shifting early to avoid hitting cutoff. Only time will tell how long this set up lasts, but autos are cheap and easily replaceable. I'll be doing some mods to the valvebody over the next few days cause I like to mess with stuff that aint broke .
Very clean set up, nice job Using the same thermostat, and cooler

the valve body will fix the need for early shifting. before i would shift about 400rpm early/before rev limiter after 150rpm early/before rev limiter. shifts are lightning fast and bite hard.

This was my setup. All my temps warmed up super fast in any weather, but stayed very cool once warmed up to operating. and the flip of a switch and you just watch the temps drop before your eyes even at a stop light.

Question 350 HP on automatic?

Hello. What are the necessary mods needed to reach 350 HP on a automatic FR-S? Im about to buy a bunch of parts to help me reach this goal, and i live pretty near an E85 Station. Please list any mods needed to safely stay at this HP including valvebody, forged internals, fuel injectors, and such. Including reputable brands would help alot. Thank you so much. Please dont tell me to trade in my car, as im already set on my goal of 350 Hp.

trans cooler
Valve body
Turbo kit
Flex Fuel + E85
Good Tune
Oil Cooler
Catch can
Enjoy!

really 230ft lbs to the wheels on a supercharger (roughly 300whp) or 240ft lbs to the wheels on a turbo (roughly 325whp) is pretty reliable on a stock block.
If doing a built block then its kind of pointless just for 30ish whp. you might as well shoot for 400whp with a built block or 325whp on stock block with a turbo+E85.

Thank you. What turbo kit would you recommend? And once i get forged internals, would that kit be able to reach 400? (not sure if i want 400, but if i do id like the information)

Good to know there is hope, thanks. I am not doing the SSP valvebody at this point, just looking to poke around a bit, up the line pressure and fab some shims for the accumulator springs (from is-elite site). I wonder what else SSP does to their valve bodies that makes them so expensive? (rhetorical question).

I recommend you get a bigger pump and injectors. I believe that was implied in 86Toyo2k17 response wrt to the e85 conversion. I use the dw300c pump and their 700cc injectors along with the Delicious tuning Flex fuel kit. Your tuner is a very critical part of making things survive.

With the SC or Turbo, it's very easy to reach your power goal and beyond but expect things can break even with the best of parts. Plan for the best but expect the worst. Read this forum to get an idea of what you are getting yourself into so you are mentally and financially prepared with whatever happens outside ones hopes.

Yeah guess i should have specified that. although pump isn't always necessary though depending at 325whp just injectors is probably fine, but much higher and pump would be required. I would just leave the necessary fueling upgrades to the tuners recommendations and go from there.

You can also change the line pressure in the tune. Not as good as a valve body but my tuner before the valve body was able to improve it from about 400-450rpm early no tune/vb, to about 275-300rpm with transmission tune, then i had him revert back to stock transmission tune when i installed the VB and it was 150-175rpm early. basically what it was when NA. Downshifts do sacrifice a little bit though with both the transmission tune and VB upgrade.

Depends on goals and budget. a lot of solid kits. Greddy, and Full blown or maybe even SBD have kits / turbo options that would most likely do what you want. Just do some google searches.

FT86club "insert any question you have" and tons of great info will pop up.

I think Full blown's kit can be very inclusive if you choose all the options and seems to have a good reputation on this platform. I would call or email them for proper turbo sizing based on needs/goals.

Can you elaborate a bit on your experience with the sacrifices to downshifts? Thank you.
