Additional update:

Still stocking up parts. Got the GR front/rear exterior emblems. Also got the proper GR push button to complete the interior. 11/10 the most important mod of this car

Also picked up some KW x GReddy coilovers for the car thanks to my friend John at TF-Works. Always a pleasure doing business with them.

Was about to order the GR side skirts from Japan, but unfortunately I opted out because of the price. The Zenki version side skirts (from the GRMN86) had an MSRP of $470 each. The Kouki version (which are literally identical) have an MSRP of $1,300 each. The Zenki parts have been discontinued, and the part numbers replaced, so now you can only get the Kouki ones, meaning if I ordered the GR skirts, I'd have to commit almost $3,100 shipped to the US.

That much for just basic, small, polyurethane side skirts is just too much for me to justify. I'd love to get them, but I can get TRD paint matched or a variety of other quality ones for less than half the price. So now I have to determine which ones to get.

The GR logo on the push button lights up when the car is on?

Car is coming on nicely.

Keep it up.

I had a black GR push start button on order too, but EMS isn't shipping to the US right now, so I cancelled that. Once that hold is lifted, I'll place the order again and that'll pretty much complete the interior.
Details make the difference! I really like that you went matching stitch color on the handbrake and boot. It looks OEM. I wish Toyota did that on all the cars. I hated the plain black ones in my 17 86 which has oem white stitch on everything else. It triggered my OCD everytime I got in the car. Lol. The white stitch OEM ones seemed to be discontinued in America so I had to search high and low until I found some Russian company overseas that was able to get ones for me at a reasonably fair price.

Can your friend do custom dash trims with logos?

If you're referring to the large dash trim, yes. He has done them in leather and alcantara with embroidery. I'll send you a pic or two via DM once he sends me a couple so you can see.

Or just look for his social media pages @sweidit on FB and IG

Honestly, I don't know for sure. I got the side markers, so all that's left is the oil cooler. That way I don't have to take the bumper on/off or remove the side markers multiple times during multiple different installs. I can just do everything at once (at least that's the goal).

I got a fat nail in one of my tires though right near the sidewall so I just had to dish out another $250 to replace one of these booty ass Michelins lol. I'd rather put that money towards getting the lip fixed or getting the remaining suspension components, but it is what it is.

There's two HPDE events here in October and another in December, and I'd like to go to at least two of them, and do it on stock tires/suspension. So, right now, my focus is on getting the essentials done before then - which is the oil cooler and brake pads/fluid. Also a catch can, as I always prefer having that peace of mind.

Been stockpiling parts and prepping for events.

Snagged me some CGS C2 pads and PMU fluid thanks to the guys over at CSG. I was set to get a JR oil cooler, but then @CSG Mike and @CSG David informed me that GReddy had an updated oil cooler meant to fit specifically with the 17+ Toyota 86 bumper, meaning no having to cut/modify the shroud. It was also in stock, so I decided to suck it up and spend the extra for the GReddy unit.

Oil cooler, brake pads/fluid, and JDM corner lights going on next weekend. Also going to fit the GR front lip and then send it off to get fixed/painted since it has that small nick on the corner.

I need to get moving because I'm running out of space for everything lol

Also got a membership with NASA to do the upcoming local events. Got 2 in October, and then another in December, which I plan to do on stock tires/wheels and suspension. After the holidays, I'll get the wheels and suspension done and go from there. That's the plan anyways. We'll see how much longer I can stay patient for I guess.

Got the oil cooler and corner lights done. Started yesterday by pulling the bumper off and then got started this morning dealing with the wiring loom for the horn and temp sensor, then got everything bolted up.

Fits nice and snug behind the bumper with no modifcation or cutting required. Temp yesterday was 117º and today it was around 115º, which is why I divided it into two days lol. Words cannot explain how much I've grown to hate working on cars in the last couple years. But it's all good.

Drove around town and on the highway for a while in the crazy heat. Temps never went over 190º. Very happy, and anxious to do some good hot lapping at the upcoming events.

PS. I can confirm that these corner lights are just as stupid as I remember back in 2013 lol. Who tf thought that was a good idea?

When driving hard, how easy is it to get to 220°? Woudn't it be bad for the oil to never get to the point where it boils of water?

I just put it on yesterday so all I did was normal driving in town and on highway to confirm everything was working as it should and there were no leaks. I did like 2-3 2nd-5th gear pulls but the temp hardly moved. I’d say a max of 195° F during my driving yesterday.

From my understanding, the temperature reading is post cooler, meaning it’s getting the temperature readings from the oil that has already passed the cooler after exiting the engine, and is on it’s way back. That means the oil inside the engine is hotter. If I remember correctly, that temperature is like 20-30 higher.

@CSG Mike has discussed this in another thread in greater detail. Perhaps he can give better insight

Any particular reason you're not using the OEM Subaru 15208AA130 oil filter?
