Finally found a good Initial D DVD seller. Got myself a collection of all Stages plus OVAs. Quality is fair, same with English Subtitles. I do like that the seller increased effects sounds.
I might just end up ordering the Legend 1-3 Movies separate.

Wife and I just finished Monster and started on Eureka 7. (Second watch through for me)

Monster was good, but there's no way the ending could really compete with the massive buildup that was the first 72 (of 74) episodes of craziness.

I just watched Monster recently, but it's on the list of things to watch together when I feel like a second go through.

Been wanting to watch Eureka 7 again, I don't remember enough to know if it's something my wife would like. I remember liking it back in the day but it wasn't a common opinion in my friend group.

Currently watching Love is War together.

Is it just me, or is Initial D, even with all it's quirks and initially bad CGI, better than MF Ghost? I feel like 4 episodes of Initial D is equivalent to the whole first season of MFG.

Still haven't watched Initial D last/final/end/whatever yet.

I haven't seen MF Ghost yet, but from previous reviews it seems like the creator is recycling content maybe gotten lazy.

Im currently on Fifth Stage, so only got a few episodes left. Since Crunchyroll didn't have 4th and fifth available.

Yeah. MF Ghost is mostly fan service. And even with that it's harder to watch because basically one race is the whole season and it follows multiple characters and their parts of the race rather than just the MC and one opponent like initiald does.

For the nostalgia and eurobeat it's not bad but it's definitely not the same.

I preferred Overtake to MFG.

Granted I'd say Overtake was more of a character drama with racing elements used as like the vehicle to drive (lol) the story versus MFG/InitialD being purely about racing.

I think a lot of people get split on Eureka 7 because at times it gets annoying with the main character being whiny. But on the other hand part of the whole point of that story is exactly that he's a kid who learns the world is much harsher than his perspective at the onset led him to believe. And because of that he grows through his struggles in the series.

But that can drag for some people. And it's also cheesy at times.

Still my favorite anime of all time though.

After binging MFG totally feel the same. Shigeno and the quality of story telling went downhill hard after 4th Stage.

Lol eurobeat was my favorite part...

I also liked Overtake. It does that thing where it resolves one story line, but leaves others a bit more open ended. I feel like it could have another season in it, not knowing anything about source material or anime production of course lol.

Yeah, MF Ghost is just meh. Initial D had a better storyline and action imo.

Somewhat on topic... Me back in October, visiting the famous resthouse/skyline view of Fuji in Hakone. Basically part of one of the MF Ghost (and technically InitialD too) race routes, so they had an exhibit thingy as well and my friends insisted on taking a pic of me . The three of us were trying to avoid looking at the TV because it was showing the latest aired episode (at the time) and none of us had caught up yet.

Google map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Cpejc16pAUJFmjMr7

If you've ever been to the Bay Area, this spot is a LOT like Alice's. Basically an Alice's Restaurant analogue. Tons of motorcycles and car guys come here on the weekends to take a break from driving the touge. They sell food, drinks, memorabilia. They have shelves of manga to borrow and read from tables with an amazing view of Fuji (if it's not cloudy like the day I went unfortunately). Fun stuff.

Unfortunately didn't take a ton of photos because my friends were in a hurry to take me to this small seaside city for lunch...

Fuji shrowded in clouds unfortunately:

I had the fake GR Yaris (AT de-tuned engine but it has the carbon roof and GR suspension/chassis improvements). Friends had the mini cooper (he's had a bunch of cars just since I first met him, when he had the original zenki JDM-only BRZ tS before out kouki model), and my other friend who had a first gen BRZ and upgraded to the 2nd gen.

A few more I found:

The guy who drove the silver GTR in this pic brought his wife and IIRC two little kids in the backseat lol:

Didn’t mind MFG cuz I’ve been reading that series for few yrs now. If you tell yourself “It’s completely different story/world than Ini-D. Just they used few chara from Ini-D.” You feel better about MFG. we ALL have a bit (or a lot) of bias towards MFG & feel MFG is dishonoring what Ini-D was, that might be the reason to most of the fans don’t like it.

I agree that, Overtake story was better than MFG, but MFG really didn’t go too detail in racing & went w personal story more vs MFG did go into a bit more racing… but the issue w MFG was it didn’t explain the racing as much (as Ini-D). Later story do explain more detail… but we’re talking about A LOT later.

Currently, I’m watching:
Solo Leveling
TsukiMichi season 2
Dungeon Meshi
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic
Dosanko Gal
Jami-Chara season 2
7th Time Loop
Akuyaku Reijo Level 99
My instant Death Ability is so Overpowered
Unwanted Undead Adventurer
Sasaki & Pii-Chan
Gekai Elise
The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash
Isekai de Mofumofu
Saikyo Tank no Meiikyuu Kyouyaku
‘Tis Time for Torture, Princes
Kingdom season 5
Snack Basue

Most of em are watching cuz, I used to read the manga. A lot of em I’ve dropped cuz few of their arc became boring (like Healing Magic). Only reason I’m watching Sasaki & Pii-Chan cuz of VA (Sasaki = Sugita & Pii-Chan = Yuuki) can’t wait for Sugita to comment about that series in his radio (both Sugita & Yuuki troll each other in their radio).

Next season is looking good. KonoSuba season 3, TenSlime season season 3, Mahouka season 3, Spice & Wolf, Jiisan Baasan, Tensei Kizoku, Re:Monster (completely different from Monster series you guys are thinking), & few others… but 7 main anime I’m so excited to watch. Especially Jiisan Baasan, love the manga! It’s fucking funny as hell w so many other anime/manga reference (including Ini-D), if you guys have a chance highly recommend reading it!
