So it may be like a bad news, good news type of thing if they do wait until 10/21 to begin deliveries.

It seems like people expect the dealers to just give them away for the privilege of selling them the car.

Ehhhh, I wouldn’t say that STI and TRD are equivalent. At least not right now. Subaru’s STI division creates true performance cars. I don’t think the same can be said of TRD. I really like TRD parts, I have some on my car. It seems to me that Gazoo Racing is doing the performance stuff for Toyota now. TRD is more about appearance. Lexus has their F models, which I think are developed internally.

But it is an option if you are on a timetable.
Snout is the best description yet! The grill is fine. The hood line is fine (I would miss the fender bumps though). Even the shape is fine. What is not fine are the two weird shaped gapping holes of the vents. Surely they do not need to look like two leaf blower attachments stuck on the front of the car. They just scream "LOOK AT ME I SUCK"

The Z on the other hand goes to the other extreme with bland flat panels for a front bumper. Maybe they will put some fog lights or something in there to fill the open space a bit.

What I can't take even looking at are the art deco curves and angles of the front fender and that bloody stupid looking running board "areo". It matches nothing else on the car and looks like a half finished low end Rocket Bunny knock off. The rest of the car's conflicting lines and disjointed design looks like it was drawn up by a group of about 5 people in different rooms that had no idea what the others were doing.

The Z does have a bit of a funky warp in the rocker panel but at least most of it's lines work with each other in a far more cohesive manner. At least they got rid of those good awful massive door handles they loved for so long!

I would have no issue considering the Z except for one killing thing. It is a two seater only! I rarely ever use the back seat but when I do want to take another person (on a short trip only for obvious reasons) I need that seat back there.

So while I know there are a LOT of ultimate performance fans here, I want to re-iterate something very important.

One of the BEST parts of having this car, which I assume is only improved with the new car is that you CAN put your foot down a lot of the time.

The more power you get, the less you can really do this outside of a racetrack. Outside of handling, we don't talk about about this often enough when talking about what makes the 86 and MX5 fun to drive.

I haven't driven it yet, but for me the gaps in this car have now seem fixed by the factory, and even that stock sound seems perfected - more more sports car like.

Potentially the perfect sports car for the common man.

I really dig the 400Z, everything about it. Except the white lettering on the tires. I’m not a fan of that trend. It belongs on race cars.

TRD is still 100% a performance division. Gazoo is a racing divison.
But ya they do seem to be slowly phasing TRD out of the picture.
Toyota has a performance car history going back to before Subaru even existed but they have been backing out of that for decades now. Subaru on the other hand has a big name in racing even though they are relatively new to it. Even they are slowly starting to get away from some of it.

That probably won't be a production thing anyway. If it is there are chemicals that would peel that of fast and easy.
