Agreed there, forums are less active since social media took off. I remember 350z-tech in ~2005. That place was LIIIIIIIT |

I think this place is still extremely vibrant. Compared to the 3si.org forum I came from, this is great

Look at the sales curve over 8 years and keep in mind that as a platform ages, especially without major revisions, interest tapers off. There will be continued interest in these cars 30 years from now, I'll bet on it. In fact it will fall and rise repeatedly.
When the new model hits the market, there will be a greater variety of media for discussion compared to what there was 8 yrs ago. I joined this forum around a month before I got my car in June of 2012. As a then Scion xB owner I had stumbled on the news of an upcoming sports car only weeks before it went on sale and joined a mailing list. The day it went on sale, I placed my deposit. The vehicle arrived maybe 5 weeks later. This all happened due to having the xB as an inexpensive utility vehicle allowing me the budget for a second less practical car. If not for the xB, the FR-S likely would not have happened. I hope there is a fresh crop of enthusiasts in waiting, and keep in mind after this it's going to be hybrid or electric or SUV of some sort for most people. So, if you never ended up with the Porsche you might have liked, here again is the car that might feel just right, hopefully for many thousands of people. I'm waiting for the 4 door version for my daily. Added points for shooting brake. lol

This place sucks. I am switching to Instagram and Facebook where the REAL enthusiasts hang out.
I have only been here for 5 years but the demographics of the site have changed. Makes sense since the used market made the car available to a your crowd. We do see the same things asked time and time again so many just stop answering. The current political climate has also appeared to have scared some away from the more social sections of the site. Hard to tell though since summer always slows down here.

I like the forums as I’m in the crowd that doesn’t have social media.

I have a list of an absurd number of forums I've been a part of. This is easily one of the more active ones. There can be more new posts on here in a day than some forums get in months.
Now add that to all the facebook groups, the reddit group, and the few other forums for this car out there, and also note there are still several gigantic scion forums going strong, and interest in the car is still high. You just are not going to see many forums get back to what this site was in 2012, or what nasioc.com used to be circa 2005 or so. |

I prefer the forum to the FB groups. All the FB groups are fairly clique-y and that annoys the shit out of me. Plus FB, where people are under their real names, is surprisingly much more toxic. At least all the groups I joined temporarily. And the forum serves as a database of info.

That also goes for most of the other (anti)social media platforms. They are all, for the most part, toxic.

I prefer the forums as people on the facebook groups aren't very useful for asking questions. However, the facebook groups are good for selling sometimes.
