My advice:
- Never ever put down more than $1K max on a lease. I still don't understand why you put $5K down (I am guessing to lower the monthly payments). You could have put down under $1K and used the rest of the money to cover 12+ months of payments or things like your insurance going up.
- If the only way you can afford a car is to lease it, don't. Period.
- If you have a history of accidents and tickets, don't buy/lease a sports car until you can clean up your record.
- If you have to work two jobs just to drive a certain car my opinion is that your priorities are off.
- This car is like having a ball and chain strapped to you now. You need to find a way to get out of your lease and, as other mentioned, try some public transit for awhile until you can save up some money and get a used safe car. No matter what you drive your insurance is going to be crazy expensive, but at least buy a used car that you can pay cash for and not make payments on. You also wont need nearly as much insurance coverage.
- You clearly need to take more driving classes. I know you are in denial that the problem is not you, but it really is you. Talk to the insurance companies and the DMV and see if there is a way to get some points taken off if you take certain classes.
- If you do all the above and focus on finishing your school there is no reason why you cannot get a car like the FR-S later down the road. Now is clearly not the right time based on your past driving history and current income.

- Lastly, you need to be more humble and man up. You made the mess, you can clean it up. There is no easy solution here to keep your current car. You made some mistakes and you can correct them. It is just a damn car.

Find a friend to take over the lease. That is the only way out.

Re-evaluate your driving habits. There should be specialty courses on defensive driving.

Good Luck

Can I afford a brand new FRS, BRZ, 3 series...yes, but should I buy a new car now? No, because I need to be a little bit more stable financially so I can be ready to deal with life when big problems arise. Will I buy a new car very soon....yes, but not until I know I am in a good postion.

Buying/leasing a new car in college isn't the brightest idea, do yourself a favor. Get a cheaper car with insurance you can afford, work a little less, keep on working hard in school and you'll be able to own the fun cars in a few short years when you can truely afford them.

I guess the confusing part on your post is the fact that you just bragged about making "well into 6 figures" yet you aren't "financially stable" enough to buy a $25,000-$35,000 car. How many ex-wives/kids do you have, man?

I keed, I keed. Still, it is confusing.

I have 5 wifes!! And ten kids!! No JK. 1 wife and 3 kids.

It is a little confusing I guess, so heres what I mean.

People don't understand these days what it takes to become someone in the medical field. You have to spend A LOT of money to make a lot of money.

My most basic debt expenses:
Dental school is 50K a year x4 years=$200K
living expenses in dental school 20-25k a year= 80-100k
House mortgage= $270k

$570,000 just in school and house debt. Half a million!

That is one heck of a School/mortgage payment.

I may make a lot of money on paper but a lot of my earnings goes to loan payments and mortgage. I Can afford to pay for another car, I have sufficient money left over to buy a car and a nice one if I wanted to. But should I....no, not until later this year when another of my loans is paid off. Then at that point I will have extra cash on hand to comfortably afford a new car and handle any potential disaster that happens to come into my life.

I wan't trying to be elitist or snooty. I guess my point originally was that the original poster should live within his means. Don't over extend yourself, like if you happen to work minimum wage, have 15 tickets, 4 wrecks, are in college and your insurance is sky high. I can afford a new car but not until I know it won't burn me just in case life hits the fan.

That makes much more sense. Your overall message is definitely something people should get used to in this day and age.

I figured school and mortgage probably factored in, but thanks for not taking exception to my post. :happy0180:

I hate to say this, but it doesn't sound like you should have a license. 4 accidents and 15 tickets, that is ridiculous for someone that has been driving for 10 years, let alone 5. Find someone to take over the loan.
