I saw an interesting phenomena once. It was on a freeway, 110 km/h speed limit, north of Sydney. There was a group of really slow moving cars, 40 km/h? I have no idea what the cause of this was but it meant that cars catching up to this group of cars had to slow down to 40 km/h too. The cars that reached the front of the group could speed up again to the speed limit. So this gaggle of slow moving cars kept on regenerating.

It's a joy to share the road with those who have a sense of, and respect for the rhythm of traffic. It's equally annoying to be trapped by those who don't.

That's called wave propagation.

It's Briton. They don't have the space we do.

This is what you get for not walking the course first.

The point isn't to optimize the space taken by the cars. That's called gridlock in some places.

The point is to optimize the average rate of passage.
This is the common misconception.

This is a rule or something in Atlanta. People will drop below 50mph on a highway that's 65mph for no apparent reason. It seems to happen in certain spots on certain roads.

I blame all the transplants. Almost no one that lives here is from here anymore.

I like when the idiots drop to 5-10 under the limit when they see a cop just sitting there in the median not having anybody pulled over.
