Just making sure, will the stock BRZ tS wheels fit if I install RCE yellow springs? The springs drop about 20mm, and the stock wheels and tires are 18x7.5, 215/40/18

This is a bit complex, but even anecdotal input would help. For my fronts, I have a winter setup that I'm happy with. My summer setup, visually, looks like it has a big gap above the wheel.


Winter

15mm spacer
18x8 +42
Michelin X-Ice Xi3, 225/40
Slight rub against the fender liner at full lock. Hasn't been a problem.

Summer
15mm spacer
18x8.5 +48
235/40


I'm lowered roughly an inch on HKS Hipermax GT coilovers. I'm due for new summer tires. How could I bring my summer setup more in line with my winter setup?

My original plan was to try 245/40 for a wider effect, bringing the outer edge of the wheel closer to the fender. I've found at least one thread that makes me think that won't have the desired effect (and may rub), though. Would 245/35 or 255/35 get me closer?

Imho it's wrong to care much about fitment/stance in relation with winter tires. Grip in winter already is scarce, not worth to compromise it with looks. And going for very wide tires in winter is against common practice that usually is opposite, for going narrower for winter tires, for tire to easier cut through packed snow/slush, to not float above in similar fashion to aquaplaning.

Well you might be rubbing because the 235/40 tire is a lot taller than your winter tires. For your Summer tires get 245/35 or 255/35 (which has more choices) and you'll be fine and shouldnt rub.

So you're effectively +33 offset.
What's your front camber? Assuming it's lowish, you might add some with camber bolts and offset top mounts. FWIW I'm on 17x9 +35, 245/40-17, -1.25" ride height and it looks pretty bad-ass at -3.5 front camber...

If you're at less than 1.5 front camber, I think that's your issue more than tire size. Tire size for you looks like it will be somewhat dictated by whether you want Extreme Perf 200tw, or another category. For Extreme Perf, looks like 225/40-18 might be best choice for tire diameter being closer to stock. 235/40-18 a bit taller, but IMO also works. Not much selection for 245/35-18 in Extreme Perf but looks good in Max Perf and other categories. 255/35-18 on 8.5" wheel works but not optimal and will give a more bulgy look.

I have a 2015 FR-S Release 1.0. Most everything is stock on it. I finally got through the original rubber last fall and put a set of snow tires on the stock 17" rims, where they will stay for the Colorado winters. I just picked up a set of the black TRD alloy wheels: 18x7 +35 for the front and 18x7.5 +35 for the rear. No plans on changing anything else up for the foreseeable future. Would appreciate some tire size suggestion. Thanks!

It will fit on coilovers no problem. Just keep in mind people have mentioned with wide tires and lower offset wheels it does rub on a tab where the rear bumper connects to the fender well.

You should use 225/40/18s for those wheels.

Right now, no camber at all. I went with 255/35. I'm pretty happy with the visual improvement, but I do get a bit of rub on the fender liner at full lock.

I understand where you're coming from, though. I think in a way, I shot myself in the foot since I was also considering lowering the car a bit more. To do that, I'd probably need some negative camber, and I think that's no longer an option if I'm already getting some rub on the inside at lock.

Again the rubbing in the rear might just depend on how low you are really. More than likely you might be alright my post just more of a caution that it could happen.

Do you know if there are differences in rear track width between different MY?
Wheelitfit.com shows a completely wrong measure for my car, I have around 1 cm less: 225/40 on 8x18 ET45, camber -2.1 degrees and I barely have 15 mm...
